Hoping for a Kyle Walker type impact from Laird, no pressure lad. A player I really rate though, this is a good signing. Him and Paal are going to be a big upgrade on Kakay and MC Hamalainen
Yes he does Ted. Hopefully he'll be able to reproduce some of that for us.
I know many are looking for a new striker, but honestly I think the one player we haven't got any cover for is Field. What's Dom Ball up to?
We've now got what three players with genuine speed, Laird, Armstrong and Tyler Roberts, I cant remember us ever having that before, glad to be proved wrong. That's three players coming at you at 100MPH with the ball, don't want to get carried away just yet but If used correctly and I'm sure they will be then thats a massive problem for any one we're playing.
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Feel sorry for Kakay though, as I don’t think he’s put a foot wrong.
I think you're right, defensively anyhow, but a couple of times today he's got in behind and delayed crossing when it needed a first time driven cross into the centre. We saw it with the two full backs for Middlesbrough, they needed doubling up on, and that creates space elsewhere. That's what MB will be looking for with Paal and Laird I think.

They say full backs are either frustrated Centre Backs or frustrated Wingers and Kakay is the former.

Absolutely Ted. We've been crying out for that, it gives us something different. I think Richards might also have a bit of pace from the very short cameo he's had so far. Armstrong and Roberts are also powerfully built as well, so harder to knock off the ball, which adds something different for us.

Cannot fault Kakay’s heart but he is not Championship quality by any stretch of the imagination. First goal today the rest of the back four is up while he’s deeper playing Stewart onside and hopefully waving at the lino. He also offers no quality in terms of delivery which is vital if your full backs are having to make the width as they do in Beale’s team.
Kakay is fine, he'll be a decent backup for Laird, a good sub to shore up the defence when we're leading, a good option if we're playing a back 3. He'll play games. But Laird is going to be streets ahead of him I'm sure

So we have a RB, that we own, who needs developing, who seems to have been doing fine. And we bring someone else’s player in on loan who’s very unlikely to be sitting on the bench.
What happened to the line about not playing our young players being a problem? Are we developing our own players or not? LB, I understand, NH is okay as cover, nothing more. OK has potential to be very decent.
Some people at the club seem to be making it up as they go along.

Nothing to snipe him for certainly, a league 1 level player doing their absolute best - but the attacking bluntness of our FBs against Sunderland and Charlton stood out like a sore thumb. As Villa and Rangers fans have told us, Beale’s system will only work with productive FBs and by all accounts this guy is v productive going forwards

Both Roberts and Richards loans are with a view to make their contracts permanent at the end of the season. Laird may well be the same but, even if it isn't, only having one senior RB is not sustainable and we don't appear to have the money to purchase the quality needed.

We need depth, agreed, but we should have signed cover/an understudy to Ossie IMO. He seems to be the best of the academy boys at this point, so if we’re sidelining him, what’s the point?
