A manager who couldn't handle the Welsh Prem, trying to coach a unique system even senior players struggled with, to a group who are (imo) mostly stopgaps while the real talent in the academy develops. The only decent prospects are either frustrated at not having gone out on loan and get nothing out of this level any more, or 16 years old. And Scott Butler, who looks like another tidy conventional centre half Martin won't be interested in.

Great question. There has been a lack of a joined up sustainable vision since before we went into the Prem. What you are seeing now is a direct consequence. Should be rammed full of top welsh talent after the huge investments made. The only question now is …. what happens next, minus the money we wasted…? Shambles.

U23 v Wolves Live on 16:24 - Nov 25 with 2694 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Cardiff city currently on a 9 match winning run packed full of Welsh youngsters. Someone took their eye off the ball in the last few years by y the looks of it. This is reflected in the Welsh national squads for u16 -u19. Another area were the club has taken its eye off the ball is Swansea TV. If you watched the game you will note the professional from Wolves knew all the teenage players of Swansea. Swansea TV does not even name goal scorers of the opposition sometimes. They are on "easy street". Wyndham might make you laugh. I just groan at low standards. People should be able to multitask. Make a joke and know opposition players. The worst example of this was on a preseason with Potter when Siwan commentated on Frieburg v Swansea and was absolutely clueless as three un named German internationals put Swansea to the sword.

Geoffroy's in the same year as Ben Lloyd and Joel Cotterill, first year scholar. I think Orphee is u15s this season. They're not the best we have, but worth keeping an eye on.

Killkeny is a Welsh patriot that wants Welsh kids from south West Wales to have to s travel many miles east and possibly to a foreign land (England) to train in a professional set up.. John Hartson went to Luton and several kids went to Southampton with Bale. The great Chairman Huw Jenkins changed all that.

U23 v Wolves Live on 18:19 - Nov 25 with 2591 views | KeithHaynes | Swansea City Under-23s were handed their first defeat in this season's Premier League Cup as they were beaten by Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Swans opened their Premier League Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Exeter but were unable to remain unbeaten against their Premier League 2 opponents at Landore, as Owen Hesketh and Luke Cundle netted for the visitors. Wolves went into the game having won both of their Premier League Cup games so far, defeating Exeter and West Ham. Swansea controlled the early stages of the game, dominating possession, but both sides were struggling to create any clear-cut chances. The first opportunity of the game came as Sam Leverett’s long ball forward found Lincoln Mcfayden on the left flank, he broke into the box but his low shot was saved by Joe O’Shaughnessy Hesketh tested Jamie Searle in the Swansea goal a couple of times, cutting in from the left, but his shots were well held by the New Zealander. Ben Margeston came close to breaking the deadlock 34 minutes in, his header from a Jacob Jones corner going just over the bar. But it would be the visitors who took the lead, Searle got a had to Jack Scott’s cross, but it wasn’t enough to stop it getting to Hesketh who smashed it home from close range. The Swans were straight back up the other end though, with Cameron Congreve carving through the Wolves defence, but his low ball was cut out before it could find a waiting Dylan Morgan. Mcfayden led the fightback in the second half, his low effort going just wide, with the left wing-back continually causing trouble down the flank. But Wolves would find a second against the run of play from the spot. A poor pass at the back allowed Cundle to break, he rounded Searle but the goalkeeper pulled him down for a penalty. Cundle stepped up to the spot and sent Searle the wrong way to double the Wolves advantage. Despite the set-back, Swansea continued to push for a goal. Tarrelle Whittaker’s low cross almost found Jaden Forrester at the back post against his former club, but the goalkeeper clawed the ball away at his toes. Substitute Ben Lloyd also came close, a good pass from Forrester found the midfielder on the edge of the box, but he dragged his effort wide. But the Swans were unable to break through the Wolves defence and will look to bounce back quickly as they return to Premier League Cup action on Friday December 3, when they host West Ham. Swansea City: Jamie Searle, Tivonge Rushesha, Jacob Jones, Joel Cotterill, Scott Butler, Ben Margetson, Cameron Congreve (Jaden Forrester 73’), Sam Leverett (captain), Dyan Morgan (Ben Lloyd 78’), Tarrelle Whittaker, Lincoln McFayden Unused subs: Nico Defreitas-Hansen, Harry Jones, Rio Campbell Wolverhampton Wanderers: Joe O’Shaughnessy, Jack Scott, Hugo Bueno, Pacal Estrada, Oliver Tipton, Justin Hubner, Jack Hodnett, Harvey Griffiths (Harry Birtwistle 61’), Conor Carty (Lee McLoughlin 14’), Luke Cundle (captain), Owen Hesketh (Tyler Roberts 72’) Unused subs: Dexter Lembiksa, Erik Bugarin

Roberts and Rodon already in the system before the Prem money went in. Cabango is a triumph. Great to see. McBurnie and Dan James were just head hunted with Prem money. Lots of others head hunted failed, save Grimes who is fulfilling the £1.7m we paid for him and then some. Bringing in many young players from Scotland, predictably failed. Where is the sustainable plan ? We have spent millions and millions, and its drifting. It looks like its been spent with little thought to even the medium term. We have had Gallagher, Rhian, etc in our first team via the loan model - this shows we are not producing many players good enough ourselves. We should now have young players and young coaches ready to help. Not sure we have - do we ? [Post edited 25 Nov 2021 18:43]

That investment while in premier league arguably saved this club serious financial difficulties upon relegation. Mcburnie and James were cash cows.

Not really. The Academy contributed absolutely nothing between Ben Davies and Connor, whilst we were in the Prem. Instead it soaked up the millions that could have kept us up. It should now be brim full of young local talent. And yet we get far better value under loan arrangements with Prem clubs. No business would describe this as a triumph and then hide behind McBurnie and James. They were not produced by us.

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

U23 v Wolves Live on 13:58 - Nov 27 with 2281 views | KeithHaynes | I’m amazed how much moaning about stuff some of the clubs fans do. If we aren’t supplying half the starting eleven for the national side , there’s an issue, oh hang on. Things go in cycles, Cardiff have won nothing, and supplied nobody of any note to the national squad except Colwill or Harris, both of which wouldn’t even get a sniff If they were anywhere else. And still Ryan Hedges gets ignored. It’s pathetic.
