There she goes. Going back to 2002, I was living in Pimlico and on the cusp of splitting up with my then long term girlfriend. I went out for the evening with a mate of mine and we were having what I thought was the last drink of the evening in the Stage Door next to Victoria Station when we bumped into the sister of another friend of my mine and one of her mates. We ended up going in a taxi with them up to Dingwalls (she lived in Camden) and the band was playing this when got in. I ended up seeing her for a few weeks - she was super hot; didn't last though. I am now married to the sister of the guy I was out with that evening. It still makes me smile when I hear it now. Brilliant night and great song.

I know this is a bit of an oldie and so many great tunes bring back so many memories, but this I have always loved, one of the first I danced to with the girls in the early 70's,when first going to dances, that was when you could hold a girl in your arms and being pressed against a pretty girl brought those first real true pangs of puppy love.
Definetly is one that defines my still beautiful wife of 33 years and two great kids, I am truly blessed.

For me, music is the gift that keeps giving.
Leatherface were a band that were with me a long time, a real marmite band.
Anyway, from a singular time in my life, "Heart is Home" was my crutch. Guitar line that moves me, heart and melancholy.
And youtube won't let me 'share' anything now, it won't load the, er, sharing thing, help needed!!
Nice one mate, I remember you, your girlfriend, me and a couple of others having a massive altercation with OB when demonstrating in SA road after the 2-5 v Spurs in 1986 (the weekend after the weekend that didn't happen) your girlfriend put up such a fight and got arrested so we escaped but I think you then jumped in the van to be with her to show solidarity ....fair play.

Nice one that is an absolute tune. Is it only me who thinks the intro reminds them of the Orm and Cheep theme tune ?

Mate that is an absolute tune. listening to that is one of the happiest memories of my whole life . Was on a coach in December 1989 on my way to my work Christmas party. It was a at disco/restaurant boat in Rochester and we were in Lee by the station. Got poured a glass of champagne and this came on I still remember it like it was yesterday nice one :-)

Just one is tough, but Bowie and Kate Bush are the two I've stuck with since I was a kid and Kate is both closer to my age and still with us. Out of all of her stuff this is the one that sums up life for me, which can make me smile and bring tears to my eyes:

First heard this in 86 or 87 and was blown away by it Changed the way I listened to music and got me into stuff like Luther , loose ends etc
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles

This one is more about the start of some journeys and some firsts-a musical journey, the journey from school-kid to adult, first part-time job, first clubbing experiences, first season actually going to watch the Rs play....
The title is purely coincidental :-)

Thanks Brixton, great thread and yes rules are there to be broken.
This one purely because of what I thought was one of the best night clubs /disco that I ever frequented,so many but this topped my list and the tune accomanying was always played and filled the dance floor
Ripples in Charring Cross, could not get enough of the place, very strictly no groups of men , even if you were on your todd, girls were fine mob handed but if male had to be escorted by a female or no entry, many a time hung about round the corner with mates and talked a few girls to escort us in for the price of a drink.
Once inside so many girls and few unattached males unless of course sneaked in like I did, gay clubs were unheard of or very underground at the time so maybe there was a few in there but kept it very much to themselves.
Still to me at the time was pure heaven and even with two left feet and a face like the back of a bus it was not hard to find many a dance partner.

So tough. But I'm going to cheat with same song twice, "Tell me when my light turns green" by Dexys Midnight Runners.
First one was recorded about 1980 when Dexy's were just breaking through with the Young Soul Rebels LP (Geno etc.) and I saw this one live on Projected Passion Review. All bustling and full of confidence, incredibly good live. Resonated with me in my teens and introduced me to Northern Soul and broader tastes beyond my strictly Mod/New Wave interests.
Second one came from 2014, same tune, completely different feel, somehow gets across the tired out, world weary Dexys. The mature me, then considering where I had been and looking back.
Who'd have thought a hairdresser from Wolverhampton with a,at best, "unique" voice would still be something I'd enjoy?
