Board Update on 12:19 - Jun 28 with 4769 views | TheFranchise | We shouldn't have needed to be relegated for this to be sorted. ---------------------------------------------- THE WEEKS FOLLOWING RELEGATION FROM THE PREMIER LEAGUE HAVE SEEN MUCH CHANGE AT THE CLUB AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS TIME SUPPORTERS WERE BROUGHT UP TO SPEED WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THOSE DEVELOPMENTS. Our search for a new manager concluded with the arrival of Graham Potter and his backroom staff. We took a little time over the decision because everybody connected with Swansea City knew just how vital an appointment this was in establishing the future of the club. We interviewed several other candidates including some vastly experienced managers but, in our hearts, we knew Graham had so much to offer. He had been on the radar for some months, not simply because of what he achieved in Sweden but because of his modern, forward-thinking principles which are completely in tune with what is needed at this point in the club's history. Since his appointment, we have been nothing but hugely impressed with his vision for the club, its need to re-establish an identity and a style of football that befits the traditions of Swansea City. Steve Kaplan Jason Levien Nobody is asking Graham to take the club back to the past, but we all know both the team and the club have to stand for something and that is exactly what he is striving to do. At the end of last season, we talked about a strengthening and re-structuring of our recruitment process and strategy in an attempt to avoid the mistakes of the recent past. Graham will be at the forefront of those changes but will not be left to stand alone in the process and will receive plenty of support. Graham will be the single most important voice in the recruitment process. He is the leader and has the final say on the players we buy and sell within the financial framework set by the chairman and Board of Directors. Graham Potter staff Swansea City Billy Reid Of course, he will have a support structure around him. Kyle Macauley has been appointed as the club’s new Head of Recruitment after working closely with Graham at Ostersund and the relationship between them is vital to the success of our new system. It will be Kyle who is charged with heading up the day-to-day recruitment process. Between them, they will oversee a completely new scouting network which, as a priority, will be recruited and finalised over the next few weeks. Graham will decide which areas of the team or squad need strengthening and then Kyle will identify the key targets, research and study all the available information including scouting reports and data before providing a list to be pursued. In a series of meetings recently, we were impressed with the diligence and depth of detail Graham, Kyle and Billy Reid have already brought to the job. This has to be a new start for the club and we feel confident they are the men to instill freshness and belief in Swansea City. huw-jenkins-16x958-2491523_1600x900.jpg Inevitably there have been - and will continue to be - changes in the playing staff. A consequence of relegation is you lose players you would obviously have preferred to keep, but Graham has made it clear he only wants to work with players who want to be at the club and those who share his vision. It is too early to start making rash promises. What we can say with some confidence is that we have implemented much of the changes necessary to make Swansea City fit for purpose once more. Everybody has taken stock, taken a deep breath and will face the new season with an enthusiasm that the club will stand for something in which both the supporters and wider community can take pride. That is the most important thing. Best wishes for the summer and the new season. Steve Kaplan, Jason Levien and Huw Jenkins [Post edited 28 Jun 2018 12:20]

Board Update on 12:39 - Jun 28 with 4637 views | omarjack | Why do they keep acting like everything is normal. They mentioned relegation sporadically here and there but they treat it as if that's totally normal. Just a tiny set back and we'll fix sh!t around with a little tweak here and there.. The worst has already happened. Take responsibility Huw you t*rd. And stop beating around the bushes and make an apology at least..it's 75% your fault.

The season starts in 37 days and the transfer window closes in 42. It looks as though our new recruitment team and scouting network will be in place in time for the January window. Meanwhile...

Board Update on 14:53 - Jun 28 with 4258 views | Swan91 | To be fair I am feeling a bit happier with the board so far. 1 - They have changed the one main problem which is the recruitment, they got rid of the scouts and gave the manager and his team the role of selecting the players. This is great news and was our downfall in the past. 2 - The didn't rush sign a manager and chose someone who is kind of known to play similar to how we used to play, and I personally feel they made the correct choice in their manager. Guys it is not going to be a quick fix, but seeing the signs of the old recruitment team all leaving and the manager and his team given the responsibilities.. it is one step forward to them correcting the mistakes they made. If you think all of this would happen in 3 weeks.... then you are mistaken

All they are doing is using Potter and co to get from them more cheap players to maximise personal profit from. Regardless of Potters ( lists of players ) I can assure you Jenkins will continue to make the decisions and all of them will be based on what Huw thinks. If anyone believes this is anything other than that they forget too easily how we got here, this mess is still with us.

Board Update on 17:42 - Jun 28 with 4074 views | Phil_S | There is nothing in that statement that tells us anything The season ended on 14th May, our relegation was confirmed on 9th May. Today is the 28th June so at best that is 6 weeks after the season ended and basically we have signed a manager we have watched for months and now put in place a scouting network to try and get the players in over the next few weeks (we can probably draw an assumption that Potter is someway ahead of the statement and has his lists) The budgets and final say will sit with the people who it has sat with for the last few years - you know the same people who oversaw some of the worst signings we could have made in the last few years and the same people who's oversight saw us lose Premier League status after 7 seasons. The three names at the bottom of the statement tell you that the 2 Americans (who are majority owners) see the Chairman as key to the future so we can assume he is no longer going anywhere (is the large salary being reduced to reflect the lower status of the club now) and the lack of reference to the Trust tells you that they are an insignificance in their eyes and yet I am still led to believe that there are those on the board very reluctant to take them on head on citing "working relationship" - the same one that had evaporated before I left (and the lack of that was the reason behind me leaving) In any other industry someone overseeing such a disaster in terms of lost revenue would have long since departed but here we are trying to put out a statement that lauds what we have done. Which for the record is the square root of nothing. 5 weeks until the season starts...

New manager New scouting staff Alan Curtis on the coaching staff. Potter has said he wants to assess the squad when they return for pre season training. We need to reduce the wage or we are in big trouble. All seems reasonable enough to me. What I don't get is why Jenkins is still with us. But can understand why we haven't signed anyone of note yet.

the trust are clearly not party to this nonsense, nor are they questioning it. one statement of discontent every few months is almost as irrelevant as the PR nonsense by Jenkins and cronies. sad times, well summed up again Phil.

absolutely spot on. the summer statements put our from jenkins over the last 3 years have all said something similar with an intent to fix, so absolutely no reason to trust and every reason to hold him to account. did he not say he would leave if we got relegated, he has even lied about that

He gave the impression in a (peak season ticket renewal period) a Christmas home programme notes (think it was Crystal Palace game) that he was going to leave. It was all lies, bullsh#t and subterfuge to prevent the potential of a mass season ticket boycott when the natives were beginning to get extremely restless.
