Paul Smyth - our newest international on 15:45 - Mar 25 by BazzaInTheLoft
We've a great history with the N'Iron:
Ian Stewart Macca Dowie Camp Hughes (A) Wash Smyth
Any i've forgotten?
I see that Ian Barraclough, formerly of this parish, is managing the NI U-21s. Was he NI qualified, or is it just a result of moving to Ireland to manage Sligo?
PS please don't anyone say anything rude about him, we might want him to say something positive about us to this Whyte lad!
(FWIW I thought Barra was one of decent blokes in a terrible squad)

Colin Clarke (think he managed the village pub in Great Shefford the next village to where I live)
Weird one - great goals per game record but we didn't take to him and he hated it here by all accounts. Fearless (I think) has a story about his mate in the Paddocks who used to taunt him with burgers.

Andy,
I noticed he received loud cheers when he entered the pitch. Was this due to a large Linfield contingent in the crowd or because he is an exciting local talent?
I also read today that he travels by tube to the ground as it is the easiest transport & that he enjoys talking to fans while on his way.
Hopefully he will retain these ideals as his career progresses.

I would dare say it was because he is one of the most exciting prospects to come from these shores in recent years. A lot of the "Green and White Army" wouldn't be Linfield or infact Irish League fans, and I've had some friends even admit they didn't know who he was until this weekend (which angered me) Lol.
I just hope people aren't putting TOO MUCH expectation on his young shoulders, just yet!

I never taunted him but asked him when the Paddock was standing through the player tunnel grill, about a goal he scored for NI a few days before as they did not show it on the telly. He said, "it was a tap in" and left it at that. Fair enough.
But now I realise, while he was very polite (Ian Wright take note) he was not enthusiastic so, it must be as you say, Football Manager style. "Player Clarke fails to settle, wants move, homesick...." blah blah.

My Dad used to say he ran liked he had a piano on his back. He had a decent goal record though and helped keep us up that first year he signed

Yeh steady player in a dreadful team.
Barraclough was dreadful , bar one free kick against Huddersfield
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
