Nations League Draw tomorrow - 11am 20:55 - Jan 23 with 2644 viewsJack_Kass

What a convoluted mess

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42719404

What the BBC fail to mention is that the seeds are seeded, so Wales will go into a group of three with one of

Sweden/Ukraine/ROI/Bosnia
&

NI/Denmark/Czech Rep/Turkey

While England will go into a group with

Germany/Portugal/Belgium/Spain

&

Poland/Iceland/Croatia/Netherlands

The Jack_Kass attempt at an explanation

If you win your group, you go up to the next tier, if you come bottom, you get relegated to the lower one, if you come second then you 'survive' I guess.

If you win your group in Tier A, you go into a fancy 'Final 4 tournament' in the year between Euro's and World Cups.

Whichever tier you are in will now go forward to determining your seeds for the Euro qualifiers, which still happen

If you f**k up Euro qualifying, then each tier will have 1 team qualify for a major championship. The best 4 teams in each tier that don't qualify, will go through a playoff to win that right.

So one 'Tier D' nation, such as Andorra, Luxembourg, will have a guaranteed place at the Euro 2020 finals.

Absolute nonsense.
What ever happened to a one on one knockout and without seeding which is basically fixing it for the better sides.

thats a bit better, but fuk having nations like Andorra and Gib in the main euros, what could they bring to the tourno besides an easy 3 pts if in your group

Not to mention Scotland must be tempted to 'throw games' and get themselves down to Tier 'D'.

They know they have a miniscule chance of qualifying in the traditional system (which is now just top 2 go through automatically), so have a better chance of going through a playoff with the lowest 16 ranked teams in Europe
