Hurt/in shock. Coming off a bike at 40mph can't be fun. Plus the loss of momentum, they'd know the chasing pack would be around a minute behind, the three of them working together could've covered the last 10k and kept ahead. Individually, no chance. |  |

Well Richie Porte broke his collarbone so he wouldn't have got much further
Geraint Thomas did carry on to finish the race, but honestly once you come off at that stage of the race, your chance to get a medal is gone, its not like being in a car where you can get back up to the same speed of the leaders relatively quickly, it would take a fair chunk of time to get from 0 to 50kmh in good health, let alone with damage after coming off. |  |
