The goalscorer was 5 yards offside when the ball was played through to him. One of our defenders (O'Dea or Hall) jumped to head it clear but it only grazed the top of his head. The assistant referee was right in line so should have flagged immediately the forward made a move toward the ball At least that is my understanding of becoming active in the move.

Had Cubero stopped then? Osbourne needs to see it again. You are probably right, which makes not getting 3 points even more disappointing today. To Osbourne, the Leeds goal looked like an attemped back pass by Cubero to Lewis which did not have enough on it. Can the Leeds player be in an off side position when the ball is played back by Cubero? Interesting. Osbourne is not sure?

Until your comment I was sure that a Leeds player played the through ball. I think Cubero had lost it, but will now have to wait for the TV replay.

famousgrouse, Osbourne says, you could well be right. It all happens so fast it is difficult to assimilate it all. Cubero had just been booked on the half way line. Cubero was then peddling back, whether it was Cubero or a Leeds player who put the bouncing ball back towards the Pool penalty area, Osbourne is not sure. You are just as likely to be correct as Osbourne! Cubero had a good game. Osbourne is certainly not being critical of Cubero. Blimey, on the Bloomfield Road pitch it is hardly surprising that mistakes are made. A professional footballers nightmare Osbourne thinks! Osbourne could easily of seen it wrong. Whatever, it was a scrappy, lucky goal out of nothing - pity.

From where I sat Cubero ducked and Clark back headed it, but not withstanding does Osbourne not rate Cubero ,given his great football knowledge? We as normal wait with anticipation

famousgrouse, Various match reports are blaming Peter Clarke for the Leeds goal! Osbourne is saying no more until he sees it on the "Football League Show." Blimey, Osbourne didn't even get the right player! Osbourne needs new glasses!

Osbourne here, Thanks for that chesterbfc, To be fair to Osbourne, Osbourne has already said that Cubero had a good game today. He sat infront of the back 4 well. He repeatedly got hacked down by Leeds players too. Infact, the Leeds players took him out one by one to avoid bookings. Cubero did well. How long is his contract? NB Thanks for oiling Osbourne's wheels, "Great football knowledge." What Osbourne has learnt today is that Osbourne needs a new pair of glasses! That Leeds goal - just what did happen!! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Osbourne here, Seen the Leeds goal on the "Football League Show" now. Leeds free Kick from within the Leeds half. Cubero and Clarke tangled. Off Clarke's head falling well short of Lewis, the Leeds player (offside?) put the ball in the Pool net. With the ball coming off Clark's head, that presumably puts the Leeds scorer "on side." Whether the Leeds player was off side when the ball was played from the free kick is not clear from the clip. The fact that the ball came off Peter Clark's head, Osbourne suggests means that the Leeds player could not of been off side. Any rules expert on AVFTT able to give a definitive understanding of the off side rule? ie can a player stand in an off side position (the Leeds scorer) to receive a ball from the opposition player (Pool's Peter Clarke) therefore not being off side? Osbourne suspects that even if the Leeds scorer was off side when the free kick was played, the Leeds scorer was played on side due to Peter Clarke's header towards Lewis in the Pool goal. Could someone clear this rule up? Osbourne is not sure! If it was a legitimate goal then both Cubero and Peter Clarke were the culprits. But, in their defence it was a difficult ball in which was simply misjudged. Like some goalkeeping mistakes, some defensive mistakes are difficult to avoid.

Cubero ducked, presumably from a call from Clark, it wasn't Cubero,s fault ,I am beginning to think Osbourne needs stronger glasses than he 1st suggested for himself or God forbid he thinks he is infalliable. By the way , kickin to the North 2nd half to nullify badgering of linesmen by the away support seems to have worked.

Osbourne here, chesterbfc, OK, Osbourne has watched the Leeds goal again. The Leeds free kick that led to the goal had been given away by Cubero, (the Cubero booking). The free kick was taken in the Leeds half. It was well kicked, the Leeds scorer was probably on side when the free kick was taken. Cubero and Clarke then between them did not deal with the incoming ball. The Leeds scorer, sensing a mistake coming from a misunderstanding between Cubero and Clarke, got in between Clarke / Cubero and Lewis. Cubero got in Clarke's way, possibly reacting (ducking) from a call from Clarke. Clarke then misjudged his header, the ball sliding off his head. The Leeds scorer, poaching, inbetween, Cubero / Clarke and Lewis, lobbed Lewis to score. The Leeds goal was then a Pool defensive misjudgement. Also, good opportunism from the Leeds scorer. Was Cubero leaving it for Lewis? Did Clarke call? Difficult to fully analyse correctly what happened. Osbourne getting a bit of lampooning from chesterbfc. Osbourne probably does need stronger glasses! Osbourne also admitting he is not infallible. Osbourne is admitting to subjective opinion. The Leeds goal yesterday, was a goal of opportunity from the Leeds player. The Leeds scorer saw a potential mistake coming. Cubero and Clarke obliged. The Leeds scorer finished well. However, Osbourne is never overtly critical of goalkeepers or defenders. Osbourne realises that they can make unintentional mistakes. The Bloomfield Road playing surface makes it extra difficult for goalkeepers and defenders too. Cubero certainly played well yesterday. However, Pool fans have seen so little of him 2014-15 that it is difficult to make a fair assessment of him as of yet. Does anyone on AVFTT know. Is Cubero on a 1 or 2 year contract? Osbourne says it how Osbourne sees it. Osbourne can lampoon himself - "at least Osbourne posts." Cheer O. Late extra : This is how "Robbie" in his good match assessment saw the Leeds goal. "The equaliser was a shambolic goal to give away and what our two CB's were doing god only knows." Well, it certainly wasn't O'Dea. It was Clarke and Cubero. Were Pool playing with 3 centre backs yesterday - Clarke, Cubero and O'Dea. Or was Cubero sitting slightly in front of them in midfield? ie 5-4-1 or 4-1-4-1. It is how the spectator sees it, subjective opinion. Osbourne saw yesterdays formation as 4-1-4-1. Osbourne could easily be wrong though! [Post edited 22 Mar 2015 17:47]
