If Ted's right, the ones who've been fooled are Redknapp and Fernandes. Judging by this thread, there'll be little surprise on here if Zamorra returns to type.

All depending on injuries Brian, if he can keep managing them like he was at the end of the season, he's a good option of the bench. It'll be more fun if we're right!!!

Definitely would! As I said I'm keeping my mind open on our summer dealings until we see if this signing and Ferdinand's are the norm or if we surround them with sensible, young signings with potential.

But I don't trust Zamorra. His injuries and form cleared up around contract renewal time, and that should make us all extremely wary.

In baseball there's a phenomenen where plyers rise from their deathbed/drug-induced stupor to breifly relive their glory days, pocket the cash and lie down again for a year or two. They call it Contract Year Form. In my house we call it Swinging The Lead.

Can anyone actually clear this up?

Did Zamora have an operation on a longstanding injury and hence improved performances/mobility - or did he simply try harder at contract renewal time?

I'm with Ted. Unbelievable signing.

I thought he had a hip injury and that he did have an operation just before Xmas.

If my memory serves me well Redknapp told BZ way back in January of this year that he was free to find another club, so what exactly is different now?
If you blokes think he'd make a good 'impact sub' for the last 10-20 minutes in the Prem then I'm saying no he wont, the Prem is full of some of the best defenders in the world and they'll have an ageing BZ all day long.
Just for one minute imagine if BZ belonged to another club and we signed him today on a one year contract, Jesus wept I'd go apeshit as most fans would.
I was as amazed as most fans with BZ's recent performances, in fact I was so bloody amazed I asked myself more than once why have we waited so bloody long for those performances?
I so want us to keep the nucleus of our promotion winning side but that doesn't include BZ, not for me it doesn't anyway.
Cast your mind back to Michu's first appearance at LR even before the bastard scored his two goals you could see how clever he was on the pitch what made it worse was finding out later that Swansea only paid I think £2 million for him! those players are out there, they are the ones we should be looking for.

Anyway, I'm talking bolox

As for loyalty from the club, I'm not into all stuff he's been well paid I should imagine and is probably a millionaire.
Time for him to go elsewhere and ply his trade, we could use the space his squad number would take up.

Superb post.

Bare bones.

following this joyus news of zamora and rio knight templar of the 33rd degree arch duke ferdinand, is it true that all signings must have their bones carbon dated to determine from which era of the dead sea age they came from.

he looks like he's going up for treatment to craiglockhart , scotland for shell shock akin to letting a center forward score who should be plying his trade doing squat thrusts, with david hemery, brian jacks, dave 'boy' green and lyn davis. with david vine waiting in the background resplendant in brown 'houndstooth' with a cutglass decanter..and with the keys to an austin princess.

Hypothesis, conjecture opinion?

But consider that BZ performed at the most needed time and then against Wigan and Derby played against two of the best sides in the championship.

There is no way Zamora will be able to 'impose himself' on opposition defenders in the premier league the way he did in the Championship. He bullied Wigan in the semi final at LR, but I reckon he would just be blown up for fouling in the top league.

Agree almost completely with Teds post, but then if it's on reduced wages and he will only be used as a 3rd choice, I will live with it. Especially as i suspect he is quite a big personality in the dressing room, whch will be just as important as those out on the pitch this year.

It was needed in any number of times in the last two years when he's been a total waste of space. I don't understand why we're supposed to forget that when he comes on as sub and plays well two or three times. The guy has not played or scored goals consistently for over 4 years. Why on earth that will suddenly change now is a total mystery to me.

Bare bones.

I'm not delighted with this, but given the fact we seem to have a bit of transfer inertia and i can't see us signing another 2 decent forwards - giving Bobby another year makes sense.

Austin to start with Bobby on the bench at least means we are fine for the start of the season and can scrabble around on deadline day for some more strikers (just as Harry likes it)
