Williams talks Rushworth & Providence hurdle. Latest on the Indy

More players are definitely on their way according to Swans head coach, Luke Williams. We can now disclose some of the issues the club are facing regards two players we have already discussed, and where the Swans stand on Carl Rushworth.

Liam Walters, who is becoming the backbone of this website mixed with certain individuals last night, he was at the Swansea.Com reporting on the game for Swansea Independent. And a fine report he did.

⚽️ That’s here —> Swans through to round two

What we know this morning is that Luke Williams is quite disappointed with progress on certain players this week, and it’s nothing to do with the Swans. Liverpool forward, Kaide Gordon has had his head turned by several other Championship clubs and is taking his time deciding on his future this season. The Swans haven’t given up on the youngster, and Liverpool are happy for him to come to a club like Swansea, but we gather that a ‘bigger club’ closer to home is interested. If that’s the case then Swansea need to cut ties with this transfer immediately.

Ruben Providence is still at the Swans in a training capacity, and he doesn’t want to return to his club TSV Hartberg in Austria. Obviously he wouldn’t have been allowed to ply his trade elsewhere with his club already into their new season had an agreement not been in place for him to do so. TSV Hartberg are currently at the bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga.

Here is what we know. The Swans have spoken with Ruben’s club, specifically, Erich Korherr the director of football. The understanding was that if a club took on his contract and negotiated his salary then that would pretty much get Providence to Swansea. However, that was around two weeks ago, now things are different. Korherr is being advised to be more clinical if Providence is to come to Swansea. Interpreted quite simply, Hartberg want more money for their player. He has around two years of his contract left but how strange is it that he is allowed to look for a new club on trial whilst his club are at the bottom of their league ?

That seems to be the reason for the drawn out issues to sign Providence.

Luke Williams stated on Saturday he expected movement in over the next twenty four to forty eight hours, we have said it before, there’s no more free radical than people. That hasn’t happened. Last night Luke disclosed. "We are we are anticipating incoming players soon. I can't give you anything more precise. I wish I could, but I won't do that because it's not fair on you guys. So I'm expecting at some point in the near future we are going to see more. There's probably going to be a number of players that are linked and I think this is most likely because the recruitment team are trying to gather data on players, and speak to people to try to get references on players. Then eventually it will come out that there's some linked with us. I can't really tell you too much more than that”

That fits in with Gordon taking his time, and the Providence issue.

The claim that the recruitment team are gathering data on players tells us that the search is ever continuing, but it also tells us it hasn’t been straight forward this summer. Most certainly the club are sourcing late signings. One that could be revitalised is Adama Sidibeh at St Johnstone. A journalist stated last night that it is quite possible the Swans will increase their interest. They also said that the valuation by St Johnstone has put most clubs off, believed to be five hundred thousand pounds. And that includes the Swans. Negotiations apparently were never taken above initial contact and the references that Luke Williams referred to. All this whilst Sidibeh increases his value to his club with two more goals against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The belief is that someone will take a punt on him this summer.

Andy Fisher is now out for a few months, scuppering what we believe was a loan opportunity for him earlier in the month, so the Swans have to do some more shopping. Carl Rushworth is still at Brighton with his club unwilling to sell him. On that Williams stated. "I'd never say never. Is there a better stronger goalkeeping department than Vigouroux and Rushworth in the same squad. Why not ?

That may well set tongues wagging, but we have to ask the question ‘Is this what Williams wants, or are the club in tandem with him ?’ With the late hold ups and the Swans squad persevering with gaps in their selection for a match day, Saturday it seems could well see a squad the same as the opening game at Middlesbrough.

We continue to bring you the latest news on Swansea City as the season is now underway, and with only some seventeen days or so left of the window, things will become more urgent. Our belief and it isn’t rocket science is that the swans will most certainly go down to the wire on signings again this summer. Especially on loan players.

On that and all Swans news we will continue to bring you as much well researched information as we can without jeopardising Swansea City. We all want what is best for the club, and that has to be the dominating factor.
