Well, is this really the dawn of a new age? Dare we believe? Of course it's too soon to get over-excited, but what the hell, I want to get over-excited. The signs have been there in spite of some poor results and defeats. Improved passing through midfield, some good combinations, a pretty solid defence, Chrissy back and Ilias getting into his high energy, high skill stride. And the cherry on the top - a fabulous right back strong in defence but able to bomb down the right wing and cut inside like an old fashioned winger. I feel for Ossy who hasn't done much wrong in the first couple of games, but Ethan Laird is a significant upgrade.
Last night was fabulous in the first half. Athough we took our foot off the pedal after half time and Willock was removed (thought he looked a bit stiff towards the end of the first 45 - hope it's just a minor knock) we could have easily scored more goals with a little care. There was some dazzling play going forward, our pressing was organised and efficient and we won balls high up the pitch. Unfortunately we made a few daft blunders at the back - yes Sam Field, concentrate - Seny was alert to the danger.
I think Illy shades MotM having scored a wonderful goal as well as his all round performance, but pushed hard by Laird.
