CUFC Women...
at 18:47 22 Aug 2024

...are in the Premier League! Just seen a tweet confirming that the Essex County League officials have agreed to move the ladies directly into the Premier League, no doubt based on their dominance in League 2 last season. I know I had my reservations about doing this previously, but you can't fault the logic - well done CUFC Women!

Opening day fixture at Plough Lane

Initial allocation of 780 seats have all sold, another block of 240 seats now on sale. Got mine and the boy's, looks like it'll be an excellent turnout.

Congratulations CUFC Ladies!
at 07:42 13 May 2024

Champions of Essex County League 2 in their inaugural season, and still to play Southminster United in the League Cup final for an equally impressive double. To say they dominated the league is an understatement - won all 18 games (the other two were awarded as wins because their opponents couldn’t field teams), conceded just nine goals and scored a whopping 129!

It’s a shame the season is over, would have been nice for them to have paraded the trophy at a full JobServe. Maybe first game next season instead?

Well done CUFC Ladies!

On the Road for 2024/25
at 17:52 6 May 2024

So far we've gained 1,197 driving miles for the six teams joining League 2, comprising:
Carlisle (315)
Fleetwood (280)
Port Vale (199)
Chesterfield (177)
Cheltenham (161) and
Bromley (65)

With the League 2 play-off winners yet to be decided, so far we've lost 882 driving miles for the five teams that have left League 2, comprising:
Stockport (-235)
Wrexham (-229)
Forest Green (-170)
Mansfield (-161), and
Sutton (-87)

That's a net gain of 315 miles. Of the League 2 play-off contenders, the furthest in driving miles is Crewe, a distance of 207 miles, which would mean a modest gain of 108 miles - assuming of course your starting point is Colchester.

Message from the Blue and White Army, who have done so much to improve the matchday experience for all of us, home and away.

"Anyone who sees this, can you email bluewhitearmy1937@gmail.com please:

Essentially the idea is to have a large waver displayed each game that represents smaller logos or references to all international supporters that want to contribute towards the funding of it & the design in some way too! Like a patch jacket of some sorts is how it’d look in my head"

Huddersfield Town, the team that literally gave us our blue and white stripes, stand between that shower of shite up the road and automatic promotion to the Premier League. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the Terriers could pull it off as their parting gift to the Championship, and then Ipshit to lose the play-off final to Nodge.

The Summer of ‘24 - ins, outs and maybes
at 09:43 28 Apr 2024

As suggested on the matchday thread, let’s kick off the traditional summer transfer speculation. I’ll start with our current loanees. I doubt Palace would release Owen Goodman, and if they did, would we want him or even be able to afford him? Of the rest, I’d definitely like to see Alastair Smith and maybe Riley Harbottle sign if they were released. As for the rest, they’ll be heading back to make room for new choices.

Crawley (a) 13th and Notts County (a) 20th April
at 11:12 4 Apr 2024

Tickets are now available for our last two away games of this season (just got mine). I’m expecting a decent turnout for both matches, particularly as the Crawley tickets are just £2, as they were for their previous home game against Donny at the end of March. They did this 2@£2 offer towards the end of last season as well, and not surprisingly it proved very popular with supporters. Mind you, they had over 5,000 in for the Donny game and still lost 2-0.

Knees-up Mother Brown #24

After another weekend break to spend a very enjoyable afternoon with Spireite Craig watching the U’s get a well-deserved point at runaway leader Mansfield Town, followed by promotion back to the EFL for Chesterfield, the matchday Saturdays left before the end of the season are running out. So, given I’m away again next Saturday again to join 9,000+ for the visit of Planet Hollywood, I’m going to slip in a Good Friday special ahead of what will undoubtedly be two extremely important fixtures in deciding the fate of Colchester United. On Monday the family are arriving for their traditional Easter Egg Hunt (and obligatory roast dinner), so here goes for the visit of t’other Exiles to the JobServe. Come on Col U!
