I though Frey was pretty great yesterday, amazing work rate, proper sprints in his pressing and, most importantly, two gilt-edged assists with perfect passes, wasted. He is the least of our problems. |

I think he may be worse than Dozzell. That can’t be right. Can it? |

Loved the Freeman Luongo Scowen midfield. Complemented each other, greater than the sum of its parts. Pleasantly surprised to see Luongo doing so well. |

Eze's recent burst of form may have put him ahead of Grealish (not playing much, overshadowed by Doku) and Maddison (hasn't recovered pre-injury form). |

A beautifully crafted homage to Stan. Thanks for that. |

He looked good. A shame Willock didn’t make him work harder when he had that left foot chance in first half, a tame effort. |

Didn’t notice that! Ok, my cynicism is restored. |

Apologies if this is elsewhere, I was struck by Dieng, the master of time wasting and shithousery, not indulging in either in the final part of the game, and getting on with it almost briskly. I’m a football romantic so I like to think it was out of respect for us. Or is that far-fetched? |

Stroke of genius, pushing him forward: turns out that the assets which make him a great tackler - anticipation, courage, sharpness - also make him something of a goal poacher. Those two last night were Bryan Robson-ish. |

There should be no music at all, apart from "Here I Go Again" by the Hollies, when the teams come out. (Old person). |
| Forum Thread | What is a number 10? at 08:00 18 Feb 2024
I get the shorthand of "three number 10s" when describing the three we had playing behind Dykes yesterday. But I'm not sure Chair and Willock really qualify. For all their many strengths, they are both dribblers, they hang on to the ball, sometimes for too long, and lack the peripheral vision, speed of thought and appreciation of angles that mark the real number 10. That actually makes them quite hard to incorporate into a team - imagine being the striker that has to time his run when either of them gets the ball and starts jinking and dummying. Andersen to me looks like the real thing. And we have always loved a proper number 10. |
