Has André the ghost got Travelman's agent? It's either that or Wilder is playing the old pals act with Père Dozzell. |

10m votes but how many seats gained from the Tories? I'll give you a clue. It's greater than zero and less than two. That doesn't win Labour elections. |

Down to the Tories spending money they didn't have like the cuts to National Insurance... Hunt's been well and truly found out. |

I'd think his name though is probably pronounced Var-ann. |

23k capacity Highfield Road was plenty big enough for Coventry in the early 2000s. By this time they were playing Championship football and hadn't had a 20k average home attendance since 2000-01, their last season in the Premier League (20,535). Their average home attendances in Div1/Championship in the four seasons prior to moving to the new ground were: 15,436 14,813 14,816 16,046 But the die was cast and they were committed to leaving Highfield Road having sold it already when still in the PL to help finance the new ground. However they had debts of circa £60m and the council had to step in. This is when the arrangements changed and CCFC wouldn't own the new ground and would be tenants instead. As Clive has already mentioned in this thread they needed a 20k average just to break even. The lease deal also meant that they would only benefit from ticket and merchandise sales on match days and nothing else. https://thefsa.org.uk/news/the-demise-of-coventry-city-football-club/ [Post edited 29 Jul 16:44]

I don't think it's so much the case though these days is it? Inter won the league last season scoring 89 goals in 38 games and runners up Milan also scored 2 per game. Compared to thirty years ago when Capello's Milan were winning the league only scoring 36 in 34 (although only conceding 15) and only one team (Sampdoria) came remotely close to 2 per game and only two others scored 1.5+. |

Yeah, what kind of Muppets lose a four goal first leg lead... |

When it's quite sudden and unexpected it's much worse I think. We lost one of ours quite suddenly last year a Jack Russell/Chihuahua/Pug (we were never quite sure as we got her as a pup from one of Mrs Camberley's old school friends who was selling her on FB) who was the mum of our youngest dog, she was just coming up to ten. She developed heart failure and we knew the symptoms as one of our other dogs had succumbed to it about 18 months previously (a classic one is them coughing and gagging a lot as if they're trying to bring something up). Within about four or five weeks of developing symptoms of heart failure despite being on medication she went downhill so quickly that one morning after coming downstairs and finding what she was like, I said to Mrs C that we needed to take her to the vets and sadly I didn't think we'd be bringing her home with us. That day was absolutely horrendous and it was Mrs C's birthday the next day as well. Our youngest dog who had had other dogs around her all her life was now on her own and she found it really hard. The house seemed a bit empty so we ummed and ahhed for a while and in the end we got a Lab/GSD puppy four months later who turned one a few weeks ago. She snarls and snaps at him occasionally when he gets a bit too boisterous but she wouldn't be without him now. [Post edited 23 Jul 15:06]

Just watched it on Catch Up. Brilliant sports documentary which the BBC used to churn out with regularity. I'd forgotten how close he was to disaster in the discus in 1984. Having seen Hingsen put a very good throw on the board to then pull out the throw he did on his third attempt after two extremely mediocre throws by his standards, under that sort of pressure, shows you the competitor he was. That was the fatal blow to Hingsen who then crumbled in the pole vault in the next event. DT probably knew that the gold was his at that point even though they still had two events after the pole vault. |

No. They've had their cut from the fee we received from Bristol City. They don't roll over on a second transfer. |

1.Pulls Platt down as the last man 2.Gets only a yellow rather than the mandatory red from the corrupt German ref 3.Our free kick on the edge of the box gets charged down from someone not ten yards away but isn't re-taken 4. Few minutes later they get a free on the edge of our box taken by Koeman who blasts it 5. Ince charges it down but this time it gets retaken 6. The milky bar kid then retakes it and the git who shouldn't even have been on the pitch, flips it over the wall into the corner of the goal Not that I'm still bitter or anything...
