| Your Report | Southampton v Leicester City Your Report added at 18:56:03 F##k, this is going to be a Billy Davies style embarrassment of a season. But with some decent players in this squad which derby county didn't have when they came up at our expense |
| Your Report | Arsenal v Southampton Your Report added at 20:31:33 Diminishing returns with the boy genius in charge. Arsenal didn't look that great but like the rest of the teams in the league they know we'll provide them opportunities. The usual headless chickens act after the equaliser and when we need a manager to step up to change the formation or sub in a midfielder to at least try to shore up the middle of the pitch RM sat on his hands again. We do not look a bad team but we're a vital percentile away from getting a result. I think that difference is a manager who watches and reads the game rather than one that is obsessed by systems and thirds There are things to be positive about. I don't think RM can build on those positives and turn them into match winning matches |
| Your Report | Newcastle United v Southampton Your Report added at 10:18:03 The board needs to support RM with the correct tools to do the job they ask him to do. A decent GK has been needed for at least 2 seasons. Rather than splash large money on a 3rd choice striker sports republic need to stump up for a decent GK or RM needs to show the flexibility he showed in the last few games of last season. |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Southampton Your Report added at 10:28:39 Bloody hell. Massive credit to RM for doing a job on Leeds for the 3rd time this season. I was surprised at how toothless Leeds were but RM got the tactics right, let them have the ball and frustrate them. The opening 10 minutes of each half wore Leeds down and scuppered their game plan. Great finish from AA and I can't think of a more suitable match winner than him. He's been superb all season and his work rate sometimes goes under the radar. Walker-Peters as ever walked tall yesterday and smallbone has clearly progressed this season. The saints fans were brilliant yesterday, out sang the Leeds fans all game. Credit again to RM.There have been a few stumbles this season but he's picked things up and kept the squad united, focused and positive. Pleased for him and the shift he's put in all season. COYRs |
| Your Report | Southampton v Stoke City Your Report added at 17:32:27 Should have played Stephens after all v Leicester the other night. RM is right - we didn't lose 5-0 today. What an odd season this has been. In the play offs while always looking susceptible to dropping bollox all season. I expect RM will do his best to over think the play off games but I genuinely don't know how the matches will pan out. I'm assuming sports direct are indifferent about going up anyway. Their finances will be much more transparent in the top flight. |
| Your Report | Blackburn Rovers v Southampton Your Report added at 09:57:57 A clean sheet - incredible. The scapegoating of jack Stephens is tiresome. The reason the wheels have come off isn't down to him - sports republic and RM are the issue and in that order. COYRs |
| Your Report | Southampton v Middlesbrough Your Report added at 08:56:07 The only positive to come out of this match is that nick can recycle one of his previous verdicts. Bottom line is saint's are not good enough to get automatic promotion. COYRs |
| Your Report | Liverpool v Southampton Your Report added at 09:33:23 Last night demonstrated the gulf which has opened up between the premiership and the championship and that with squad and RM in charge we'd be patronised by the big clubs for our playing style but with the same self defeating outcome. I was foolishly hoping that RM would have put out a first team last night but of course the self appointed genius knows best. At least Leeds and Blackburn represented the championship with more fight and goals. Not sure what message the players will get from last night but let's see what little pep does against Birmingham - a team we squeaked past when they were struggling under Rooney. COYRs Back to the league |
| Your Report | Swansea City v Southampton Your Report added at 22:49:18 Well done to the players and management for the record breaking run. We've got a great mix of talent and solid performers in the squad and we're a very good solid championship team. One note of warning for pep junior - don't mess around with your defense unless it's due to injury - decent managers wouldn't do it so average ones certainly shouldn't. COYRs. |
| Your Report | Southampton v West Bromwich Albion Your Report added at 01:18:01 Satisfying result and very happy for Adam Armstrong getting the winner - although it was close going into the last 15 minutes. Hats off to RM for his flexibility over the last 6 weeks which has paid dividends - COYRs |
| Your Report | Southampton v Leeds United Your Report added at 22:29:57 Thank goodness for that. An attacking creative deployment taking pressure off the back 4. Wow. Play your best players, be aggressive and pass the ball forward quickly. It wins games. Who would have thunk it. Hopefully Rodney Martin has learnt the lesson. Rodney, don't be a plonker against Rotherham - play the obvious starting 11 and don't underestimate the opposition as Leeds did today. In this division you cannot give an inch COYRs - together as one |
| Your Report | Southampton v Ipswich Town Your Report added at 00:20:07 Have saints turned a corner? Only 1- 0 against an in form team? Looked better when Bednarek went into defence and Charlie Pushed up to midfield? Find out on Saturday. Same bat time, same bat channel. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Leicester City Your Report added at 13:31:15 We've got a new verb in our house - to make a Russell of something or to Russell it up. 'I went to the shop to get some bread for sandwiches but I came back home with 4 packets of jelly. Damn I really Russell'd that up. SR have been a disaster from day one. Bad managerial decisions, scatter gun player recruitment, relegation which was entirely avoidable, which meant selling our better players and replacing them with loans and inadequate staff. Under SR we will keep going in the same trajectory. We cannot keep making the same basic errors forever but by the time things get sorted out this club will be responsible for ruining yet more half decent players prospects. There was a time not so long ago that we were a respectable and well run club who developed players. Now we're a laughing stock where young players come to have any positivity and creativity knocked out of them. COYRs |
| Your Report | Sunderland v Southampton Your Report added at 13:08:40 I didn't go to the match but the same old issues from the past few seasons still haven't been addressed. The concern from reading comments on various websites about a non competitive midfield is a worry considering the issues in defence and up front. As others have said we need to mix up the way we set up and play as teams know what we're going to do in every match and our happy to let us keep the ball for 70%+ knowing that we need 5 chances to score 1 goal but they only need one shot on target to score. As nick mentioned on the Perraud article RM is his own man so he's unlikely to change. Not great news for Saints fans as we do not have the players who can succeed in our playing and beating even average teams who are well drilled never mind decent teams. We've got so much potential in this club but the owners sole interest is making money from developing young players for other clubs. The antithesis of a recipe for success. COYRs |
| Your Report | Southampton v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 10:17:12 After the Norwich game I was prepared for a long frustrating season of mediocrity. Still a long way to go but happy my genuine fears have not been realised. Particularly happy for Adam Armstrong - he's had a tough few years but he's kept plugging away and is coming good again. Hope Stephens is ok and would love to see him playing in midfield if ousted from defence with the new signings but either way he's a wonderful character and a very good ball player. COYRs |
| Your Report | Plymouth Argyle v Southampton Your Report added at 20:06:28 Surprised to win not surprised we conceded from just 2 on target shots. The forwards at the club are good enough for this league but need a decent CB. Still not convinced with the overall ownership or managerial set up but a decent start to a tricky season. COYRS |
| Your Report | Southampton v Liverpool Your Report added at 09:20:41 Hard work undone by cretinous defending. I can't imagine sports retarded will learn anything as their USP seems to be owning lower league clubs as a farm for young talent. They've achieved that now let's see what happens next. |
| Your Report | Southampton v AFC Bournemouth Your Report added at 10:05:28 The team selection has been odd for some time but with the limited use of the new January signing and over reliance on players that have been at the club for several seasons contributing to the ever-diminishing returns I'm under the impression that the owners are focused on limiting spending rather than staying up. |
| Your Report | Chelsea v Southampton Your Report added at 19:10:55 Odd set up and as lovely guy as he is by all accounts Ely shouldn't be starting. Great news that stu Armstrong is fit again as well as peters. Who knows what will happen next but after 12 months of wilful incompetence today feels great. |
