Is Ramsdale the keeper he was or is he simply behind an utterly pathetic defence 18:33 - Jan 19 with 1256 viewssaintmark1976

Beaten today by two shots from way outside the big box and a header from distance, not forgetting letting one through his arms that looked exceptionally fortunate to be ruled out by V A R.

To me he looks a shadow of the keeper he was when he played for Bournemouth/Sheffield Utd and Arsenal although he was of course relegated from the Premiership with his first two clubs.

Whatever happens for the remainder of the season it’s very doubtful he will play for us in The Championship but on his current form it’s looking extremely unlikely that we will recover what we paid for him.

We keep criticizing players form but we should take into account how this club has been run recently.
Jones,Selles and Martin have been found wanting in this division, remember they brought their men with them, not so much Selles.
Our tactics, training and fitness haven't looked up to it,players form when they join us goes backwards.
Players have been thrown about like confetti ,they must be as confused as I am watching them.

GK's need confidence in their defence and their own ability. Letting in goals every week is not going to help.

The fault for the long range efforts could be laid with defenders backing off and allowing the shot to be made.

For a keeper, a shot coming from 20 yards, through players legs is effectively a shot from 12/15 yards which may suddenly change direction if deflected.

So for me these were errors by the defenders.

The one that went at his chest before he threw it in the net, was perhaps one for the bookmakers.

defensively we were pathetic in the first half if you give good players that amount of time and space its not going to end well.

Our central defender ability to make a challenge and attack the ball has led to endless goals this season. Opposition players seem to be able to advance at will towards our goal

Lets not forget the countless (usually unforced) errors our team has made this season, that have directly led to the opposition scoring.
gifting them possession
poor passing
poor clearances
the giving of stupid penalties
Keeper fvck ups
....the list goes on an on.

MOTD recently said it was 17 of these errors, but actually it is more, because their analysis is not as harsh or damning as mine !! :-)

2 of the goals against Forest were the fault of the defence not Ramsdale.
Our defenders kept backing off the oncoming forwards inviting them to shoot, & they were 2 very well struck shots that most keepers would have struggled to keep out.
The 3rd goal came about because Chris Woods was left unmarked in the box & he did what does best & scored with a good header, Ramsdale had no chance.
Our defenders were very guilty of not taking responsibility, Harwood Bellis is very guilty of leaving the opposition unmarked because he panics & does not have faith in our other defenders to do their job, he just doubles up instead of picking out an opponent to mark. He's done that on far too many occasions this season.
