I hate this bidding thing. Most of us can't afford to get close to what the likely winning bid is. Why not sell tickets for a tenner each and give everyone a chance - you'd raise more money too.

To have a shirt properly professionally mounted and framed is over £150 let alone buying the shirt in the first place. With a margin the club would charge £250 at least!!

This isn't by the club, it is from SKY. The club are merely promoting it. A raffle scheme would be fairer but what do SKY care?

Edit: considering how much the club wastes on $hit players i'm not sure the margins in mounting and selling a shirt would be that important!

£6,000 is 600 tickets if a tenner each. I'd reckon there's be a lot more than 600 tickets sold if it was a raffle.

If they cared that much about charity they'd make a heck of a lot more. Probably more interested in being able to say "wow! This went for £6000". Self promotion is what Sky, and its subsideries, is all about.
