Not necessarily - it'd be odd, surely, if he didn't feel some kind of split loyalties. Personally, I find it weird when people coach/manage international sides when they have different nationalities, but that's the way of things these days. As Jimmy would so eloquently put it, it is what it is. Now I'm thinking crossly of Jim Smith more or less saying half of him wanted Oxford to win that Cup Final that never happened. Well, half of him at least got his wish, the bald c*nt! [Post edited 7 Jul 22:42]

If he's not in Girona, and he isn't, why isn't the club saying they're releasing him? He's no longer our player as things stand, unless he re-signs as a free agent. The story of the fall and fall of Matty Willock Northern cites is troubling in context - it smells like Willock is made of similar stuff, sadly. Clearly, the Lord moves in ways even more mysterious than yer man's pinging hamstrings. [Post edited 7 Jul 12:46]

Sorry, I'm a little off the pace right now - what's the story with Chrissy? Is he in Girona? Moving to Newcastle for 10m or to Sunderland for a bag of sweets? Knuckling down for a campaign when he and we cream the Champ? Succinct updates please. |

What was the evidence he was a good coach again? |

Another cheek-blowing mystery, unless it's positive discrimination on the FA's part on account of his colour. The guy was/is a crap manager who's done nothing in the league (sacked by Northampton, resigned from Burton, and his QPR teams erased themselves from our brains as they played). Also permitted to flirt with punditry (nice work if you can get it, Jimmy), despite having a relationship to the English language and footballing analysis that makes one wince. He hasn't literally painted himself into a corner, has he? To do this he'd have to be (literally) a painter with some kind of weird complex or who hadn't thought the job through! |

Personally, I'd rather see a system which prohibits the purchase/bribery of Academy products until after, say, a year of full adult professional status/availability for first-team selection. Such a move might seem a bit draconian, but it's become a malaise for clubs like ours. Sadly, as things stand, both for us and the game in general, the days of bringing through the likes of Gillard, Francis, Allen and Goddard feel like football in another space-time dimension entirely. It's scandalous the investment 'smaller' clubs make in training and developing young players of many years can be wiped away by the greed, opportunism and stupidity of Prem clubs, agents and the players themselves. As my first exhibit, I give you Josh Bowler, who played literally no games for Everton, while contracted to them, for FOUR years, and then had to drop back down to Hull to get a couple of dozen games of football - clearly, he'd have been far better advised to stay with us for a couple of years at least, but that doesn't make these scumbag agents money, and then naive players and/or their greedy families get their heads turned! He's not the first, and he certainly won't be the last. There needs to be pushback, and it's virtually a duty of professional care issue when you look at players like him. It's also about players respecting the training and development they've received, and it's no different in principle from other companies in the business world having e.g. contractual restrictions on employees about leaving and setting up in the same sector. The neoliberal values of 'free market' and 'free movement' etc. are quite simply corrosive to the culture of the game. But I, and others like me, might as well be howling at the moon! I'd go as far as saying it's a make or break season for him! He's 26 and a half! He needs to be tearing up the Champ for us or move on, and I hope that's exactly what Marti is telling him in no uncertain terms. Judging by Sinton's comments about his off-field application while he was injured and then injured again last time out, he doesn't seem the most committed of athletes, unfortunately. |

Regardless of his ability, I demand Arkell Jude-Boyd is reinstated forthwith purely on the basis of his glorious name - which sounds like a 1950s Northern miner mated with Jude the Cat and a Magpie presenter. Joking aside, that little list is a really depressing statement of footballing failure for the club! |

Why do you put 'our own' in scare quotes exactly? That aside, the gist of your post seems to be we can never run a viable Academy at little ol' QPR, so let's just parasitise the outcasts of others'. Joyous! |

But it's not just about the first team, is it, especially for a club like ours - it's about bringing through the cream of the crop for the football of tomorrow and tomorrow. To me, it' really disappointing that the Academy seems to have such a high mortality rate. Your post is really the acme (or I suppose nadir) of short-sightedness, and I'm glad you're not running things. |

'It was an easy choice for me blah blah (or the French equivalent of blah blah)' Do any incoming players ever say: 'To be honest, they had to really twist my arm to get me here. The money's not great, the training ground looks ropey, and the weather's a bit shit. I'll do what I can, but I'll be telling my agent to keep his ears open a la Michael Beale'? (On which subject, I suppose Joey Barton was at least honest after the event, in telling us he only came to us for the money - like most of that shitty 'class' of 2012/13.) On a less cynical note, I love Marti's concept of the 'attack-minded keeper' who's 'aggressive in his positioning'. which was a new one on me. Just as long as it doesn't leave him vulnerable to getting lobbed from 40 yards a la Ronaldinho/Seaman. Anyway, soyez le bienvenu, Paul. |

If that were the case, he wouldn't have left us for the Prem, presumably! If Arse or the Mancs or whoever come in for him and pay his ransom, he'll be on his way faster than you can say 'Ebs for England!' |

On a crucial linguistic note, could someone in the know kindly explain the precise diacritical transformation exerted by a marker of the kind 'Åge'? |

Nos 1 and 2 are a national/colonial embarrassment. Blake's number a good bet for a modern UK. |
