Favorite car

That was my first car as well, not a flash one like that though, big standard 1,100, followed by a Triumph Dolomite, unfortunately only a 1,500, couldn’t afford to buy or insure an 1,850 especially the Sprint version!
Company cars for the next 20-30 years so a series of dull Fords, Vauxhalls and Peugeots followed!
Was only talking to some friends about this subject recently, can remember the number plate of your first car or two from 40 years ago but can’t remember my last one from 4 years ago!

Book recommendation
at 18:02 6 Jul 2024

Read all the Shardlake books, really enjoyed them.
Last year read the Ken Follett 20th Century trilogy, it's fiction mixed in with real events.
Like to have a fiction and non fiction book on the go, currently The Body by Bill Bryson and Andrew Marr, A History of Modern Britain (the follow on from WW2 to end of 20th century), need a fiction book to go with them as they’re both a bit on the heavy side!

Friday Tuneage - the gig that got away

Rolling Stones for me, early 80’s Wembley Empire Pool (were they still in their prime then?!), turned it down, “ who wants to see a load of middle age men?”!
Regret it now, don’t care about the song.
Turned down Queen too!

I’ve just realised we started from Llanfrynach, down by the canal!
Small world eh?
Beautiful part of the world and the weather was perfect for walking!

Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

A video of my Alzheimer’s walk yesterday.
Don’t worry, it’s only about 2 minutes long!
Many thanks again to those of you who sponsored me and it’s still not too late if anyone else fancies it.
Cheers,
Simon

La Marseillaise by a country mile, Flower of Scotland, especially looking at the fans when they’re singing it, wow the emotion, you an almost feel it!
After that pretty much any other the God Save the King which is such a dirge it actually brings you down not lifts you up!

Burlington Danes in the London Old Boys League?
Played for Old Manorians between about 76 to 91.
Another sport I watch is gymnastics (obviously never tried it!) as my daughter was a pretty decent regional gymnast ( now a qualified coach) and it’s on the telly whenever the Worlds, Europeans or Olympics are on.

Bumping this back to the top.
Can’t believe how quick this has come around, next week!!
Only thing now is hoping the weather will be better than today 😱
A big thanks to those of you who have dug deep, it’s much appreciated and if anyone else feels like donating I’d be very appreciative.
Thanks.

Golf, playing and watching (used to love going to the PGA at Wentworth but they’ve moved that to September now).
Love a day at the cricket.
Rugby but unfortunately there’s no team down here to watch. Love watching the Barbarians at Twickenham.
Got back into the gym a few years back as I chucked on loads of weight during lockdown, put on over 2 stone!
Not sure if this counts but love walking, South Downs is on my doorstep and the New Forest not too far. Go to the Lake District at least once a year and try to do another mountain region as well each year.
