Yep, only at QPR. For mine, he is better than both who started/deputised in that position on Saturday as overwhelmingly right-footed left-backs.

Because they deserve to be there. They should have beaten us earlier this season. A club that has never had the largesse from the premier league and subsequent parachute payments, yet recruit very well. Femi Azeez from Reading and Macaulay Langstaff being excellent examples, acquired for well under £1million last summer and neither looks out of place in the championship.

A team that can bring on Watmore and Coburn from the bench, as was the case today, is clearly doing a lot right in my opinion and will be well ahead of us this season. All of their forwards (x4) have scored in the league this season.

I can't stand the club, but will give credit where due.

Turfed over once Moor - Burnley Match Fred
at 18:48 25 Oct 2024

This is why these fans, the real diehard ones amongst us, should always be the first to be given tickets when scarce or there are limited numbers available.

We could be bottom of the table by the end of tonight, yet over 700 are going to Turf Moor tomorrow. Well done all of you. Massive respect.

Kolli scores!
at 08:49 25 Oct 2024

This would be the same Rayan Kolli who in just over 60 minutes' football played in total has one assist = "attitude problem". Lucas Andersen, senior pro and former international player who has played over 470 minutes in total, with no assists = no "attitude problem". In spite of his being so ineffectual all season when he should have been our creative attacking mainstay in Chair's absence and Willock being no more.

Performances way below Chris Willock's of last season, yet no question of him ever having an "attitude problem".

Paal, whilst on the field and playing, was deemed by one poster to be "sulking" in an earlier game this season, and his attitude has been questioned. Dunne's performances have been no better than Paal's, similar contract situation, but has a perfect attitude.

It's only a matter of time before that tag is ascribed, by some, to Dembele who has scored one goal and provided three assists to date. Abject Andersen's contribution again!

All the while, it's totally unconscious.

Celar - Nothing Again

That may not be so far-fetched as it may seem, as Burnley played with a false 9 yesterday against Hull. The former Millwall player, Flemming, played in that role.

Morgan has his moment but home win continues to elude QPR - Report
at 14:28 24 Oct 2024

Opinions differ and that's a good thing.

However, if that were Begovic in goal, there would have been thread(s) saying he should have saved the rather tame side-footed strike from Wright, which was on his weaker left foot. Being consistent, then Nardi is at fault too. I also worry that he's rooted to his line too much for my liking when we are defending corners and free-kicks and is not commanding enough.

Nardi's done reasonably well but he has his weaknesses. Cook should have reacted quicker too, as Wright's shot wasn't struck that hard.

Just shows how incredibly high the bar is to make it at a club like Spurs. This kid is talented.

As has already been said by others, I just hope that the precocious talent that he has displayed in two substitute appearances, is further harnessed at our club. It's a very small sample size, but I think he has the makings to become the best of all the permanent signings made since the MC took over. Even though he wasn't signed for the first team.

He's smart too. I liked how he gave away a foul on the half-way line after losing the ball, as it could have led to Coventry City breaking on us last night.

Worry that their potential midfield three: Rudoni, Eccles and Sheaf will overrun ours with relative ease. They clearly haven't clicked yet as a team, but you can see that happening soon. Just hope that it's not tomorrow.

Surprised that Kasey Palmer left them for Hull City.

Are you Madsen?

You're not a luddite. It is exactly that. You know; Simon Barker, Ale Faurlin, Gerry Francis etc.

Madsen ain't any of the above and never will be. Dom Ball did a better job when called upon during his time at QPR and I didn't rate him that highly, but you could never question his commitment, endeavour and he was braver on the ball than Madsen. Yes, he made some mistakes in that position, but he never hid.

NB: I'm not banging the drum for Ball's return.

We're just circling the drain, aren't we?

Fox's performance, if you can call it such, was infinitely worse. At least Gus Caesar was trying to ply his trade at the highest level.

I had my doubts about the squad that we had assembled this season, but never thought that we'd be bottom. Pompey were abject, yet we gifted them their victory.

Fair enough.

However, in the short period of time he has had on the pitch since the MC has been at the helm, he has created two goals, in spite of his perceived or actual "failings" on and off the pitch.

Compared to his peers of similar age, some of whom have sat on the bench in recent games, I would put him ahead of all of them: Bennie, Morgan and even Lloyd. He's nowhere near being a starter but has something to offer if nurtured correctly.

I'm sure we'll be as vociferous as Leeds tomorrow baying at the ref to give us free-kicks, even when not warranted. For Gnonto falling over, replace that with Smyth.

Quality game; good defences overall, midfields on both sides strong but good on the ball, ball passed with accuracy, purpose and at speed with Leeds being the better team.

Wonderful.

So Madsen, as one of the cast of the powder-puff, light-weight brigade, is likely to start again. Other light-weight cast members, in my opinion: Andersen, Dembele, Saito and Smyth. Smyth being the most resilient of them.

Marti - the right man to correct this

That's what is so annoying. Recognition that a player or two of that type is crucial in this league would have aided our cause in what I believe to be a decidedly average division, this season.

Look at Oxford United who clearly recognised that and signed Will Vaulks. Nothing stellar about him, indeed some of our fans would turn their noses up at such a signing, but he will fulfil all of the "mundane" tasks that you have listed, to the letter and as a seasoned professional, no bedding-in period required.

Where are newly-promoted Oxford in the league right now on a smaller budget than ours!

International Break

"Nice run of games". They fill me with dread. We have to get at least 4 points from Pompey & Coventry, because after that, I'm struggling to see where we can pick up a decent number of points from the other 7 games to the end of November.

I'm still trying to keep the faith, but the only players I'd start from the January and summer transfer windows, would be: Nardi, Frey and Dembele. Dependent on JCS, Chair and Colback being available for Pompey, of course.

Has Dunne signed a new contract yet? If we are to be consistent when adopting that approach, then it's equally applicable in the case of Dunne.

I'm still of the view that Kolli, at this formative stage of his career, is currently a better option than can't be ar**ed Anderson, whose attitude for a senior player stinks, as well as the likes of Madsen and Bennie.

Anderson's attitude is in stark contrast to Frey, who took it upon himself to get fitter and become a better version of himself this season. In Willock's departure and Chair's absence, Anderson should have been the one to assume greater responsibility, not Dembele.

Just goes to show how much Willock and Chair, by virtue of their being on the pitch, made it a lot easier for him to shine last season.

Our best eleven and bench with this squad
at 11:59 7 Oct 2024

In that formation, I would play Smyth instead of Lloyd. I agree with you about Ryan Kolli. He would be ahead of Andersen, Madsen, Saito and Bennie. We have to make ourselves harder for the opposition to penetrate and that means having a greater presence, both physical and in speed of thought, in all areas. Chair is physically strong and difficult to dispossess. Smyth isn't but has enough experience at this level and knows what to expect/what is required.

If we were to play 4-4-2, I'd have Lloyd alongside Frey with Dembele missing out. Lloyd looks very clumsy with the ball, doesn't have great close control/first touch, and in the ideal world would have been loaned out. However, I believe that he could offer more than Celar.

It's clear why previous managers had the utility player a la Ball or Cameron in their squads. A younger version of either would fill the void in the absence of either Field or Colback. Madsen and Varane, at this current time, aren't good enough in my opinion.

Dozzell and Willock bench warmers now for the bottom two teams !!!
at 00:00 5 Oct 2024

Both still faring better than Lyndon Dykes who it would appear will be third choice striker at third-tier Birmingham City. He started last week Saturday and was taken off at half-time when Birmingham were losing 2-1. They ended up winning 3-2.

We're only three points better off than Cardiff and Pompey. In the case of Pompey, I won't be underestimating them. They may have got battered by Stoke, but prior to that, they picked up 4 draws out of 7 against some of the highest placed teams in the league, Luton excepted. An injury-time winner by Burnley prevented them getting a fifth draw.

Coventry were adrift on points because of their pitch being ruined by the rugby 7's in the Commonwealth games during that summer and therefore couldn't play at home for nearly two months.

I'm afraid that our motley/scatter-brained assembled squad will never come remotely close to that excellent Coventry team of 22/23. I'll happily settle for fourth from bottom with this poorly assembled squad.
