They’ve got no way of knowing who voted which way though. They can do half arsed polls of a few hundred people but extrapolating that to an electorate of 40 odd million or whatever it is is just not very scientific in the slightest.
It’s not 8 years though is it? We left the EU in early 2020 then went straight into a pandemic for 2 years. Progress was being made with the Trump administration but then The Biden administration started playing silly buggers over Ireland so talks stagnated so we had to reach agreements with individual states instead.
In short no. It would be hugely embarrassing for Starmer politically to have a very public fall out with the POTUS. Every postwar leader has had cordial and positive relations with their counterparts across the Atlantic despite there often being great political differences between them.
Starmer is clearly afraid of Trump. The sending of Prince William in his place to the reopening of notre dame said it all. He doesn’t like being in a situation he can’t control.
You’re forgetting the undeniable biological fact that the young people from 2016 will be nearly two decades older, they will have grown out of their student politics phase and matured into normal rational thinking human beings.
