Metallica - Orion. It's one of those tracks that travels and builds, piece by piece, into something quite special. Less 'thrash', more prog, I would say. Takes me back to my teens, listening to whatever made me feel good / something. Don't often listen to Metallica anymore, but thus one still works.
Thought I'd tuned into some harrowing dream sequence in a David Lynch movie. Expect a backwards talking girl giving clues to the identity of the first goal scorer
I like the way that he makes defenders nervous in possession. You can see them trying to work out where they can dump the ball before he's close enough to clatter them. We won a few balls on Monday night from rushed passes ending up with Morgan and Chair after he rushed their CBs.
Best live: Furlong. Luton. Winner. All the feelings, all at once. Best on TV: Dennis Bailey - Hallelujah! My brother was recording Moonwalker (the fcuking awful Michael Jackson film) on the other side, otherwise I'd have taped it.
Worst (on TV): too many options (Harry Redknapp used to work here you know) but seeing that bellend Cantona stamp on Wilkins unpunished was pretty low in a game that was already a smoking crater in my psyche.
Don't get the supposed rivalry at all. Makes no sense. Most Rs couldn't care less. I mean, it's basically derived from a single comment about us seemingly raising our game, delivered by a former player who looks like a burst sofa. Cup final? Yeah, right. That would require not only Watford but QPR to beat someone in a cup match. What a melt.
Tactical flexibility is one thing. Getting the players to switch from one system to another mid-game is another. That takes really strong communication and a lot of trust and understanding from all concerned.
I think Marti is developing something really different to what we've seen in many years. It's taking time, but every step forward is improving the team.
I'll take 'basics' over what we produced earlier in the season. Right now, we can be as basic as All Bran if we keep dishing up wins like that. Putting teams like them to the (pork) sword is extremely entertaining.
Next: we run, kick, tackle, head AND pass. What a day that will be!
