Have Southampton Fans Finally Lost Faith With The Club
at 11:37 19 Feb 2025

I'm confused. You used to say having the away fans in the Northam hindered the home support and enhanced the away side's chances of winning.

Now it's become clear to pretty much everyone it's had a detrimental effect and we get beaten every week, you seem to be saying the team need to perform in the first place for the fans to create an atmosphere. What happened to the extra 10-15 points a season a dedicated home end would bring us? We could do with a few of those...

Does Juric want to be here next season?
at 11:43 18 Feb 2025

This season was done long before Juric was brought in. The team that won at Wembley were never going to be good enough to survive in the Prem and the players we signed in the summer (Fernandes aside) were even worse than what we already had. Added to Rusty's ridiculous philosophy that these sub-standard players could outplay the competition, we were always destined to have an awful season.

Had we appointed a Moyes or Dyche when Rusty got the bullet, then I've no doubt they'd have had more of an impact in organising us and making us harder to beat, but I very much doubt we'd have had enough in the tank to stay up. If we'd have opted for a Rohl or another Championship proven manager at that time, I think working with the inadequacies of this squad for the remainder of the season would have done more damage than good, so appointing someone to see it out worked for me.

Hopefully SR are thinking the same and will have their target for next season lined up and ready to go shortly after this one finishes. There's no way Juric should be in charge....that would be completely ridiculous.

I left when they scored their 3rd too and I might have been one of those laughing and smiling on the bridge as it’s comical how bad we are. We're a million miles away in terms of quality, fitness, hunger, professionalism, pride to each and every side we face. I just can’t understand how we’ve ended up with a squad like ours.

I really don’t let it affect me anymore. What’s the point in ruining your weekend over that shit?

Is the Red Wall……

Having all our "singers" behind the goal in our "home end" was going to be worth an additional 10-15 points a season apparently.

Now it seems, results are actually more about having a decent team

Who Killed The Magic Of The FA Cup for Southampton
at 20:55 7 Feb 2025

That’s exactly why, but it’s a pathetic excuse really. The FA are an odious organisation and in 5 or 10 years time, their pinnacle cup competition will be completely irrelevant when the big boys bugger off and focus on their super league.

I don't necessarily agree with this. There is still a chance for a "lesser" club to win a domestic cup, but the biggest hindrance to most of them is themselves.....for choosing to prioritise the league and field weakened teams. The likes of Brighton, Bournemouth, Fulham, Forest etc should go all in, but they rarely do.

You can also get lucky like we did In 2003. We got home draws in every round, all against equal or lesser clubs, Spurs in the 3rd round being the toughest on paper. We were far from disgraced in the final against a side in their prime who were winning Premier League titles and on another day, we could've been the ones lifting the cup.

Also, in the 2017 league cup, we beat Arsenal away and of course Liverpool home and away on route to a final where we were undoubtedly the better side and probably should have won. The bigger clubs didn't blow us away then; it was more a case of the experience of serial trophy winners Man Utd seeing them through.

There is still hope, but it requires the clubs to take the competitions more seriously. The fact they don't, sadly fuels the disinterest from fans.

The club priced the Swansea tie completely wrong and didn't learn their lesson and correct that for the Burnley game. Both are very unattractive fixtures, in a season of absolute shit, so it's not surprising to anyone the attendances for both are so low.

I love the cups, but haven't gone to any of our ties this season, in both competitions. My view is I spend enough of my time and money supporting this club and rather than giving more of both for these additional games, I'm going to use the weekends to do none football stuff for a change. If they'd of made it a tenner or done something to make me feel my contributions are appreciated, I'd most probably have gone, but they've chosen to bury their heads in the sand and carry on as though everything is rosy. Of course there's still something in me that wants to give in and go, but I won't.

The biggest killers of the magic of the cup however are the FA themselves. They have completely sold the soul of the competition for their greedy short term gain. If ever any evidence was needed why the governing bodies of the game, whether that be the FA, the Premier league, UEFA, FIFA etc don't give a toss about match-going fans, just look at what's been done to this once great competition, solely for financial gain. Those that go to the games are not even an after-thought; it's all about selling the rights for domestic and international tv packages and raping the game for what they can.

Will we beat Derby's lowest points record
at 13:53 31 Jan 2025

Of course I hope we don't, but the further this season goes on, in some ways I think it'd be kind of cool to break the record. At least it's something to remember the direness of the season by.

It's not just internet fans that are moaning; most people are completely fed up with it, but still go week in week out because of the loyalty they have to the club. The atmosphere at both home and away games has been terrible this season as there's that resigned feeling we all know what's coming. We're just going through the motions and It's not enjoyable in the slightest.

This is so naive. Forget the Corporates and big business and think about the millions of people employed by small businesses. In 2019 the minimum wage was £7.83....in 2025 it will be £12.21, so about a 35% increase.

How do you think a small business affords this when it's getting battered by all the other inflationary cost increases? Businesses don't suddenly become more profitable to be able to absorb these pressures, they have to make cut backs....and more often than not that comes in the form of redundancies.

6 years ago I employed 5 people...3 permanent and 2 part time, now I only employ 2 part time. The business in the unit next to me closed down altogether 4 years ago and the garage next to them went 2 years ago. The engineering firm opposite laid off 6 blokes just before Christmas. This is the reality of what small businesses have to deal with, not your utopia of paying everyone £20+ per hour and all living happily ever after.
