Really thought we had him 2day how wrong I cld be, like already said odds don't change that drastic without any truth, hate to say it but looks like we will be missing out

Can't believe people still pay attention to the changing odds. They change every 30 minutes, is Hooper in a helicopter continually turning between East Anglia and West London?

I don't believe any of this itk stuff - I just look at the skybet odds and was confident a few hours ago - odds had moved from 2/1 to 1/3 on, but now back to 11/8 - what is happening? Does someone out there know something and have they placed a big bet on Norwich?

No.

Sky run a story saying terms agreed with QPR, meanwhile Sky Bet have QPR at a very attractive price - that's not a coincidence.
The two things that surprise me...
1 - so few people realise this and pay such close attention to the sky odds as some sort of barometer.
2 - it's legal and they're getting away with it.

Are you actually saying that you believe that Sky run stories they know to be wrong so that people weigh in at Skybet who are coincidentally offering reasonable odds? Therefore in this case they want people to throw money on Hooper joining QPR when in fact he's going to Norwich so report it as a done deal.

Well I guess we'll find out today re the Hooper case, but it sounds like something for an investigative journalist to get involved with. In fact it has all thr ingredients of a thriller with sex, murder, blackmail etc.

Always wondered the same. How can a news outlet be able to offer up odds for news they are publicising?

Will Redknapp EVER not answer a journalists question? Why is he talking about the impact he will have and it being nearly a done deal? We know it is not a done deal yet and it could fall to pieces. He did this last season with M'Vila, speaking about how he plays and what he would do for the team etc, then he went to Russia....

It must be a nightmare for the media team, and the board...

Not quite but almost. I'm saying they massively trump up stories and make it sound like a player is all but about to sign on the dotted line somewhere when in actual fact they've probably only got an agent telling them that, who of course has motives other than keeping people informed - in the case of Hooper it would suit his agent to tell Sky that a fee has been agreed and he's about to sign to try and get West Ham and Norwich to blink. What Sky should do is assess the quality of the source, speak to a range of people etc etc but what they actually do is just run the story as fact and if it turns out to be bolox well then we get "oh it's all part of the game" and "it doesn't matter, it's only football."

The added aspect of a betting service running alongside it is highly dodgy IMO and people should avoid using it at all costs. Taking bets on things that you can directly influence with a news report is dodgy as fck. Last transfer window at 1.50pm the bloke at Spurs said Jermaine Jenas had left the training ground to sign for Sunderland and immediately a market was opened on Sky Bet so you could gamble on where you thought Jenas was going. No doubt a bit of money was taken. Then at 2.10pm the same bloke reported that Jenas was actually going nowhere. So they've taken money there for 20 minutes on the basis that a Sky reporter has said Jenas is off to Sunderland, and then just said "ahh not happening sorry." You're telling me that between Jenas leaving the training ground "to drive to Sunderland" at 1.50pm and 2.10pm the move has collapsed? Bolox, was never happening.

Deadline day 2011 Sky reported all of the following, and there were betting markets opened on Sky Bet for a load of these, and none of it ever happened. So think of the money they took on particularly the Peter Crouch and Adam Johnson markets, that they were driving with news reports, only for none of it to ever happen....

Peter Crouch definitely staying with Spurs. (He went to Stoke)

Peter Crouch signing for Sunderland for £10m. (He went to Stoke)

Tottenham to complete signing of Gary Cahill from Bolton with Sebastien Bassong going the other way. (Both stayed put).

Sebastien Bassong to join QPR. (Stayed put).

Charlton, Notts County and Millwall battling to sign Mark Marshall from Barnet. (Stayed put)

Sulley Muntari to leave Inter Milan and join Newcastle. (Stayed put).

Sulley Muntari to leave Inter Milan and join Fulham. (Stayed put).

Sulley Muntari to leave Inter Milan and join Spurs. (Stayed put).

Charlton striker Paul Benson set for either Bournemouth or Bradford. (Joined neither).

Tottenham and Liverpool in for Yossi Benayoun from Chelsea. (Joined Arsenal)

Stoke to sign Nicklas Bendtner from Arsenal. (Joined Sunderland)

Blackpool to loan Nile Ranger from Newcastle. (Never happened)

Fulham, West Ham and QPR all fighting to sign Jerome Thomas from West Brom. (Went nowhere)

Peterborough are leading the chase for Norwich striker Cody McDonald. (Wrong). Closely followed by Coventry are leading the chase to sign Cody McDonald which was true.

Liverpool's David Ngog rejects a move to Leicester and might sign for Blackburn instead. (Went to Bolton)

Sunderland to 'push through' a deal for Wolfsburg's Patrick Helmes before the window closes. (Presumably they didn't push hard enough)

Aston Villa make deadline day swoop for Middlesbrough's Rhys Williams. (Never happened)

Newcastle, right up to 10.30pm on Wednesday, about to sign Bryan Ruiz. (Went to Fulham for £12m)

Fulham to sign Ghana ace Derek Boateng from Dnipro Sky Sports understands. (Or misunderstands)

Daniel Sturridge to Liverpool. (No)

Southampton to push for Jay Rodriguez from Burnley. (Again, push harder)

Craig Bellamy to Stoke. (Went to Liverpool)

Cameron Jerome from Birmingham to Leicester. (Maybe they confused him with Bellamy)

Jermaine Jenas from Spurs to QPR. (Went to Villa)

Stephen Dobbie to swap Swansea for Blackpool. (Stayed put)

Jan Beausejour to join Wigan from Birmingham. (Never happened)

Aston Villa to sign Joe Cole from Liverpool. (Went to Lille)

Craig Bellamy to join QPR from Man City. (Went to Liverpool).

Roman Pavlyuchenko to leave Spurs for Porto. (Stayed put)

Gary Hooper from Celtic to Wolves. (Never happened)

Andre-Pierre Gignac to Fulham. Or Blackburn. Or Everton. (Or nowhere)

Birmingham close to a deal for Newcastle's Nile Ranger. (A second attempt after the earlier Blackpool story, still wrong)

Brighton and Coventry both close to deals for Leeds' Billy Paynter. (You'd think the way Leeds get rid of players this would be like shooting fish in a barrel, alas...)

Alvaro Pereira from Porto to Chelsea. (No)

Liam Ridgwell and Nicky Shorey to Celtic. (Wrong)

Ok, Liam Ridgwell to Newcastle then. (Still wrong)

Kaka from Real Madrid to Spurs. (Not even worth dignifying with a response)

Adam Johnson from Man City to Stoke. (Likewise).

Actually it would make quite a juicy little tv expose',especially since there are so many anti Sky sentiments out there.
It's about time the industry was properly investigated, everything is loaded in the bookes' favour.

Makes me laugh all these "ITK" people reading things on twitter and taking it as gospel !

The fact is nobody really knows where Hooper is going bar the player himself and his agent
