Done some asking and Oli McBurnie is most certainly up for a loan back to the UK this window. I’ve been told four Championship clubs are interested. This will all fall on the fee’s involved plus he is on in the region of €36,000 a week. Big numbers but we know how these things can be negotiated.

Do we have the money ?
Yes.

P&S will need to be positive and only the club really know where we are with that at this moment in time, It won’t be massively healthy. Oli has played fourteen games for Las Palmas this season with no return. He has never been a prolific striker, but could he settle into Luke’s team ?

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

I would agree on Vipotnik.
He is always that second or two late getting into position.
He has limited pace, so strolls around chasing players down.
He wasn’t good enough for Bordeaux in Ligue 2. Yet somebody thought he was good enough for us.
Cheap I guess.

Emperors new clothes of a player.

I can’t work out if he’s still adjusting and is going to be a beast, or if he’s as good as he’s going to get.

I’m no great fan of Grimes, certainly as a Captain but this has all the hallmarks of a fire sale. Are things that bad or does Coleman believe we’d be better off in the long run without him. This sort of sale should be a summer one really when we have time to contemplate adequate replacements.

One would like to think they have seen the light and the folly of having everyone bow down to Grimes on the field of play giving him the ball at every turn
Sadly,I have no faith in our chaos to replace him with better

We can but hope

He’s not popular on here, but all of our managers have loved him.

Taking Grimes himself out of the equation for a minute, selling a player like that towards the end of the window, when the team is in abysmal form, is not a good sign.

Last sentence I agree but I see Grimes as central to our woes
We play everything through one man and that ain’t good at all.
Clearly
It’s all about who replaces ,as Ai say. That’s what bothers me .
Managers like Martin ,Cooper and Williams…. Hardly a great endorsement
Opposition managers love him,as they know exactly what he will do and can plan accordingly .

As unsuccessful as they have been (at Swansea), Martin, Cooper and Williams are far more knowledgeable about football than anyone on here.

I’d have no issue with this, if it was summer and we had a stable manager, funds to replace and a pre-season to bed new players in

Time for a change for the good of the club and the player?
We really need players in though to add viable cover in both defence and in the midfield who can effective do both sides of the game. We had two season of almost being dragged into the relegation battle, really can't remember the end result of Martin's first year here. We need strengthening in a number of positions and is Williams really getting the best out of his players, small signs of turn around often squashed by extremely poor results.
Williams out of his depth or just a pawn in the mismanagement of the club.
Darling's rash decision resulting in sending off and Tymon's for the second goal which devastated the team after a deserved face saving goal. Both decisions effectively settling the results.

We have seen in so many games this season teams getting ahead by sensible attacking football keeping safe guards in place, ease up letting teams get back into games and then have to reapply the pressure but then not keep the safe guards in place.
Seen some shocking play by teams this season without the ability to close games down as they should with suitable tactics

I would think that somehow Frankl Lampard's opinion on a midfielder would carry much more weight than yours. Our outstanding player by a country mile - - no-one comes close. What an almighty mess Mr Coleman.

You really need to ask the question how do teams open us up so easily?

I'll harken back to the friendly game against Riu Ave they put a midfielder high up the pitch between Tymon, Darling and Grimes and were opening us up for fun, it was Franco who shifted position from the right of midfield(he may had been central in front of Grime) to our left hand side and closed down their one avenue of attack, you could say it was a friendly but we have seen a number of times an opposition midfielder push forward without being marked,

Grimes is fully aware he is there but doesn't want to leave the centre of the midfield so leaves Tymon exposed we do not close that route down as our wingers are told to stay wide and our advanced midfielder is undecided what is needed, Cullen confused is he a number ten of and advanced midfielder, we leave players unmarked in the middle of the park even move so as Grimes drops further back.
Would have preferred a younger player being up to speed before Grimes departure but how can that happen if Grimes is ever present.
At least we have Abdulai if Grimes goes, no wait he is gone, Cotterill needs to return but even he usually is only playing 70mins when selected in the first eleven.

Rocky Road ahead but I don't want to see a Grimes clone come in, a more dynamic midfielder making the right choices when going forward and defence yes.

Watched a couple of poor Premier league games on Sunday even watch Man City and Chelsea from the 60th minute on and what was obvious was the teams looking to play on the front foot they were more likely to score provide safeguards are in place, long balls, or short intricate play was far more effective when played at pace before the opposition could regroup.

Will we see that type of play while players seem handstrung to play bravely or would that be carelessly, balls into the middle with no support , full backs coming into the centre on their wrong foot to get the ball forward, Key desperately trying to get it on his right foot often getting caught out if he helps it go down the line either to feet or beyond the opposition fullbacks making them turn but only if done at pace, they are easily defended if a team is allowed to regroup.

I suspect Andy & Co. are doing to Coventry what Wycombe has so far done with Swans. Both players have supposedly indicated that they're willing to move on. If the funds from player sales, Grimes & Abdulai, and sell-on fees for Joseph & Whittaker, allow Swans to sign 2,3, or 4 new recruits, then let's get on with the rat-killing now and not this summer. We need a directional/leadership change in both on the field and with the manager. If Grimes has to be sold to make this happen, then so be it.

If we sign 2, 3 or 4, first team quality players, I’ll be happy. Especially if we bring a new manager in.

The issue is, we’ve been down this road before, albeit with Levein and Kaplan pulling the purse strings. Hate to say it, but this window so far has been straight out of their playbook.

What do you mean by " fire sale"?

It related originally to huge discounts for relatively sound products that were involved in a fire. Damaged stock sold at 5p in the pound.

It has taken on a new meaning of a panic sale to generate cash and avoid bankruptcy.

There was no fire sale in 2017.Swansea got decent fees and generally broke even. That was about getting high wage earners off the books.

‘Breaking even’ is completely misunderstanding it.

If we’d sold Piroe for a million we’d have broken even. It still would have been a fire sale price.

Again you are insightful as ever

Norwich's second and third goals came from individual errors Tymon who having surrendered the ball gave a half hearted chase and Key dawdling yet again on the ball.....these were as a result of tactical errors by a coach....

The problem is we as a club find ourselves in a crap position both on and off the field......

Trouble is were we looking to get into the play offs or rebuild for the future, there was a sniff of a playoff place but could we afford to go chasing that play off spot while bringing in some of our younger players in their preferred positions, Williams not prepared to do it and the chance is now lost.
We have Parker getting back on the pitch(and yes there is irony in mentioning him) he could be ready to press on on the wing, the no10 spot relativitly young players like Eom, Bianchini, Cullen and possibly Ginnelly to step in there but it would now appear very little youth options in the midfield. Ffulton, Grimes and Allen cannot be called box to box players anymore, so who does that leave us Franco, with our present set of players and formations adopted we need two box to box midfielders to keep us competitive at this level, I would say two new player if you want cover. Will that happen?

I wondernif it will and on top of this we are being forced to play Peart-Harris again out of position due to his loan deal

It makes one wonder the constraints Williams is opearing under which will amplify his own shortfalls

Paitence Max I can see a few coming in if Grimes goes, but there again that will give Williams more time which I don't think is a great idea.

Look at the club and behind the scenes in isolation, how many Jobs is Coleman covering and jobs that needs proper footballing people to do.

What's going on behind the scenes is a question that needs an answer, in my opinion.
