Axel Rudakubana 16:24 - Dec 18 with 885 views | raynor94 | The Southport stabbing suspect, has pleaded not guilty to all charges, so is going to put those poor families through a trial. I understand innocent until proven guilty, but this is ridiculous and how much is it going to cost for this futile exercise.

Axel Rudakubana on 17:00 - Dec 18 with 829 views | majorraglan | He didn’t plead not guilty. He refused to speak in Court and the judge determined he was a “mute of malice” and entered the Not Guilty plea on his behalf as is the protocol. If it goes to trial it’ll cost heaps and heaps of cash and it’ll likely cause the families a huge amount of distress and upset. This guy needs to go away for life and never ever set foot outside a prison again.

There was a time where cases where the defendant refused to speak or enter a plea they had heavier and heavier stones placed on their chest until they either spoke or died.

Axel Rudakubana on 17:11 - Dec 18 with 787 views | AnotherJohn | I do wonder how much information would come into the public domain if a guilty plea had been entered and the defendant elected not to take the stand. There may be perverse incentives that lead the authorities to stay vague about the circumstances of the case.

Keith Look , I know what barristers do as much as your good self and professional criminals will look for the best , ie, the one with high percentage of not guilty I used to work with the barrister who defended Rhys Jones murderer He specialises in such cases Rarely prosecutes My point is. How can they ? I have to be honest and admit I find your comments rather ....

Because that’s the way our justice system works - it’s adversarial. The point of a good defence is to secure a strong conviction.

I suspect he'll end up in a secure hospital for the rest of his life, and that's too good for him. There is no doubt he did it. I'd wager there'll be a defence of ASD or similar lodged. A full trial will be awful for the families and the jury who have to sit through it.
