We would still need the same facilities however it is financed. GPs are basically private contractors - they aren't doing so well. It will never be sustainable unless everyone that uses it, pays into it. Right now we have millions of illegal immigrants, we have health tourists and the unemployed who make no contribution.

Are we at the point where we actually have to refuse all but emergency treatment to anybody who is over 16 but doesn't have a National Insurance number? The whole of the British armed forces are run from London wherever in the world they may be, we let local commanders make day to day decisions but the biggest decisions are taken in London.
