Well our owners run businesses so I assume these companies can now ‘sponsor’ us for millions. Although no doubt we would mess it up somehow.

Air Asia and Tune Group did to be fair, and it still barely touched the sides of that Champions League sized wage bill. Just on my way back from Germany after watching a Oberliga match on Saturday. A nice break from the soggy biscuit contest we call the Premiership and English football. [Post edited 7 Oct 17:22]

I assume those sponsorships were at the accepted going rate though: as far as I can work out the new ruling means that companies can now sponsor a club for whatever amount they want to even if it’s millions over what would be realistic.

The target audience for the European Super League "product" is likely the Gulf states and the Far East so I'd say they'll happily have it - no need to fake interest in watching your heroes abase themselves playing irrelevances like Luton or Ipswich.

It is. This could have huge connotations for us. Of all the clubs we stand to gain the most from this, should the Football League follow suit. In theory. Our owners have always said that they would put more money in if only the pesky rules allowed them to. Now comes a ruling that seems to allow them to. The caveat being, of course, that they have not proved very good at spending money in the past. edit - would love to know what SimonD makes of this. [Post edited 8 Oct 9:45]

well, thats some of the cases on 10:28 - Oct 8 with 1376 views | lassel | The ultimate result is that on 2 of the 7 accusations by City, an independent tribunal found the PL had acted illegally under British Commercial Law and on the other 5 accusations had been institutionally unfair towards City. Whether you like or hate City, it’s an absolutely devastating ruling for the PL and will inevitably lead to many heads rolling.
