“We take risks at the wrong end of the pitch” 17:36 - Aug 31 with 1818 views | PatfromPoole | Somebody on here said that a couple of weeks ago. Such a complete summary of why we are where we are in the table.

“We take risks at the wrong end of the pitch” on 17:44 - Aug 31 with 1763 views | Berber | Today I heard a put down of the alternative lifestyle folk who live in the Norwegian forests. Reading reports on the game I saw this on the BBC website. “ Adam Armstrong had earlier missed a golden opportunity for Saints when his attempt at a volley bounced off his standing leg and fell into the grateful arms of Mark Flekken. Joe Aribo also went close to scoring for Southampton when the ball deflected off his back and against the Brentford crossbar.” Together with the defensive c0ck ups we favour it brought to mind the put down. “Clowns and Glass Blowers.”

RM expects his players to be brave & take risks but he's not even brave enough to leave Stephen's out. This cliche about risk & reward is rubbish if the risks you take cost you goals & there is no reward at the other end. "STOP TAKING RISKS AT THE BACK & TAKE A FEW UP FRONT". All the time we're carrying passengers like Stephen's & Adam Armstrong then we're in trouble.

The fact that we have only scored one goal this season, and essentially it didn’t count as it was a meaningless goal, means there appears to be VERY LITTLE REWARD. I can just imagine Martin running rings round Parsons, Kraft and Ankersen at the next board meeting with all his slick presentation of his ideology. He could probably sell ice to the eskimos, that bloke. He even has our self-appointed leader Saint Rob referring to him as “Russ” as if he’s his best mate. Time to stop falling for all the bullshit, Mr. Parsons.

He’s no better than the others with the ball at his feet though. Quite possibly a good deal worse. Don’t think Martin wants him around.

Can’t see a difference in possession with ABK or Bednarek for example. And ABK is a better defender, preferable in our flawed situation. One help would be to take out a centre back, reverting to a flat four. Put KWP on his proper side and replace Sugawarra with Charlie Taylor. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

ABK is a better defender than Stephens & THB but there's very little chance RM will play him because he's not committed to the club, he wants away, shame really because he's a monster & could beef up our lightweight defence As for leaving Sugawara out, that's crazy have you watched the 3 games he's played in, he's been our best player. I actually think he's better than KWP, he's much more direct & provides great deliveries into the box.

Yes, if there's a defensive player who really needs to be fitted into the team, it's Charlie Taylor, not Jack Stephens. [Post edited 2 Sep 8:33]

I’ve watched Cardiff and Brentford, so only seen Sugawarra once. I see no reason why Sugawarra should not be replaced, if his replacement, Charlie Taylor, is to the benefit of the overall team at the expense of an individual. He’s hardly Cafu and our current defensive structure (and selection) did not work. 3 games 3 losses. I want Taylor in the team so it’s either KWP or Sugawarra in my eyes. [Post edited 1 Sep 22:31]
