That defeat is down to Martin on 17:03 - Aug 24 with 5849 views | Heisenberg | The defeat is down to the fact that we are simply not good enough for this league. We have one player in KWP that is Premier League level the rest are Championship players. Just accept it there is zero chance of this team staying up.

That defeat is down to Martin on 17:08 - Aug 24 with 5790 views | 1885_SFC | The team that were hopeless against 10-man Newcastle... was the exact same team picked today to somehow, magically, beat a resilient Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, there was a host of talent left on the bench today by RM who, surprisingly, decided to stick with the same old formula that failed miserably seven days earlier. Why? Why would you do that?

yup and only 1 on target which was a tame shot by Walker-Peters. We tried to pass our way through without creating much. Edozie got in some decent positions again but was a bit dozie again on the ball

That defeat is down to Martin on 17:59 - Aug 24 with 5436 views | Southamptonfan | That old chestnut. The manager who heroically got us up isn't good enough for the PL. All 3 promoted sides from last season went straight back down. Ipswich have also lost both games. Vincent Konpany wasn't good enough for Burnley last season. He's now manager of one of the biggest clubs in the world. Ralph wasn't good enough, Seles wasn't good enough, Jones wasn't good enough. Could it not just be that we don't sign enough of the real quality you need in this league? Swapping the manager won't make any difference. We need a 50 million pound striker that wins you games, that's what we need.

No, Kompany got relegated with Burnley because he tried to play possession using mediocre players in the PL. Russ will soon find out the same thing. These managers just aren't suited to clubs like ours with meagre resources. If you have meagre resources you have to play a different way, not possession. Then you don't have to pay top dollar for players who all have Barcelona type skills, or end up trying to get players who don't have those skills to try and play that way. Swapping managers definitely would make a difference - so long as we changed our style too.

More of the Nathan Jones style or Sean Dyche? Mark Hughes to save us anyone? We would still get beat either way. [Post edited 24 Aug 18:19]

No, not being Russell Martin doesn't mean being Nathan Jones. How about playing like Villa do or Bournemouth or Crystal Palace or Wolves or even Forest today? Counter attacking makes much more sense for us than possession.

Why play Armstrong and Diaz on the wings, who were they supposed to cross to? Paul Onuachu is on the pay roll stick him on the bench and bring him on if need be,cant do any worse. Those clubs have match winners. It will be like the Ralph situation all over again. Get rid of Ralph, everything will improve. Things actually got worse. It's the Premier League. It's very tough and we simply don't have any match winners in our team. If you.dont have goal scorers of real quality we will struggle regardless.

He’s a reactive manager, not a proactive manager. That was fecking dull. They could still be out there now playing, and Forest sat on their coach home yet we still wouldn’t look like scoring. Why are we to afraid to shoot! Take a shot fellas!

Spot on. There was no-body in the box. Even on 90 mins. Diaz was still hugging the touch line. As for the substitutions, it was like a scatter gun approach. Seemed liked RM just threw on anyone, Dibling did have a bit of threat going forward, but will probably be dropped next week for not playing sideways and backwards. Surely he must play in place of Smallbone next week. Finally, why do we need to play 5 across back ? It doesn't work for us and never has.

Who do you think chooses the players? Whose priorities mean that we end up with players that can play tippy tappy but have no physicality? A smart manager could take our budget and form a team that would survive in the Prem based on a goalkeeper that stopped shots, a stubborn low block and rapid counter attacks. If we attacked at pace when there was space to move into, some of our players would look a lot better than they do now when we attack slowly and the space has gone. We could play like Forest did today and have one third of the possession and over 75% of the shots. We'd certainly score goals then.

But a better (?) manager could see that this style of football was not working and we kept having passes that were not successful A lot of that is that while it worked in the Championship we don't have the players good enough for the Premiership with this tippy happy possession style. It's too late now, it's gonna be a long hard season
That defeat is down to Martin on 19:45 - Aug 24 with 4794 views | BLEEDRED | Stats tell it all, 65% possession, 1 shot on goal and only 1 off target (at home) More telling for me, McCarthy had to make 7 saves (a couple of good ones) Forest should have won more easily. So Saints had more possession in the first 2 games but no goal threat, and that is against 2 teams who did not even play that well, just wait until we face a good side! If RM cannot see that his game plan will not work but is not prepared to change, he should resign. Expect Dibbling to leave on loan next week!!!!! o 7 saves

Carry on like this & we'll get relegated with even less points than we had last time we were relegated. Possibly the lowest points ever gained in Premier lge. I know it's too early be saying this but the signs are not good. [Post edited 25 Aug 16:31]
