Looks like Luke Shaw will play but what about Harry Kane

Yes to both - Shaw in, Kane also starts.

Bye bye Gareth. Tactically useless. England got to a final but have flattered to deceive. Why was Kane playing is beyond me. Scored a couple of sitters but is too slow and static. Southgate is too defensive and can’t see things until it’s too late.

Couldn’t agree more, long ball football today. We got to the final despite him

Gave the ball away constantly.
Kane should have started on the bench.
Pickford man of the match, it could have been 3 or 4 down at the end.

Congratulations to Spain. Excellent football team 👍

Should have started with Palmer and Watkins.
Team showed a lot of courage and got us to the final.
Spain deserved to win.
PS The England fans were magnificent.

A tactical decision made at half-time cost us dearly. Kyle Walker was pulled in to play as an extra central defender and that left acres of space on our right flank, which Spain exploited for both of their goals.

Congratulations to Spain. Excellent football team 👍

The best team by a country mile. Seven wins from seven starts.

Tactically, technically and fitness levels far in excess of England this evening.

Throughly deserved Champions of Europe.

Southgate made the same error as every England manager in every major tournament since 1966. Too scared to play young players who are currently in form. Kane should have been nowhere near the squad at the expense of the likes of Watkins and Palmer.

The much vaulted Bellingham was poor. Foden looked a shadow of his club form.

can someone tell me what tactical formation we were playing because it wasnt clear to me and the players looked confused. Two things bellingham and foden shouldnt be in the same team its one or the other and why try and play on the counter attack with a centre forward with the mobility of a cart horse

Trippier, Bellingham and Stones don't convince me. Kane looks and acts as though he is half asleep. Southgate has done very well with what he has but he does not seem capable of turning the players into a team. That said, serial finalists is a better record than anybody else in charge has had in the last 50 years so well done to the lot of them. Losing to Spain was no disgrace.

Completely gutted.

Great atmosphere at the ground, our fans were superb; hardly heard (or even saw) the Spanish all day, apart from on the underground at 1am.

Another case of our fans being better than the team. Spain were the opposite.

Now for a 5-hour train to Warsaw and a flight to Stansted; hoping neither are cancelled….

Safe trip back, Pat. Don't forget to set your watch back 200 years once you get past Ringwood.

Nick, did you go to the Berlin Holocaust Memorial? I thought it looked strange to say the least couldn't they have done anything better? Loads of stone blocks.

Yes I did see that, it was a little different to say the least, I think it was meant to give a sense of solitude in the City, only a short distance from the site of the Fuhrer Bunker I think.

The Ramones Museum was pretty good though

I liked Berlin, there’s obviously a lot of history there and there is plenty to do.

Also had a great time in Cologne and Dusseldorf, both nice cities with atmospheric old town areas in the city centre.

But I probably had the best time in Frankfurt, with Saintwizzler and a number of his friends who were highly entertaining company for 4 days. Was a great atmosphere there in the Sachsenhausen district, added to by the large number of Jocks in town.

I went to Berlin a few times before the wall came down. Very interesting. You could go into East Berlin and you could also drive across East Germany to get to Berlin. Although you would be arrested if you strayed from the main road, you could still see what it was like in East Germany. The poverty was similar to the poverty of ideas and ambition in a Gareth Southgate team.
