Everton Protests 16:49 - Nov 26 with 3415 views | Heisenberg | Watching the Everton Man Utd game and all the home fans are holding up cards protesting against the points deduction. Surely it’s the board they should be aiming the protest at. They broke the rules and got the club in such a mess. Brilliant goal by Man Utd though.

Everton Protests on 18:14 - Nov 26 with 3315 views | Southamptonfan | They're protesting not because they don't think they should be punished but because they think that Man City and Chelsea should also be punished. Those two must have broken the rules having spent billions but they will probably get away with it. They will have the best lawyers in the world. City, Chelsea and now probably Newcastle are as corrupt as they come, yet it's only Everton that get punished. [Post edited 26 Nov 2023 18:16]

I still want them to go down but preferably having got the 10 points back,or at least not have needed that deduction to go down. Imaging the sympathy vote they'd be seeking if it was that deduction that sent them own Although of course if City and Chelsea were to join them it would be even better due to the degree of cheating they carried out

Football is going to see a revolution in the next few years the Big 7 want to play in a European Super League but also stay in the Premier League ie have their cake and eat it, the rest of us have to be big and brave and turf them out. You are right Everton are in trouble because over the past 8 years they tried to spend their way into the top 5, but found that times had changed spending £100 million plus per year every year wasn't enough. Moshiri was welcomed as he boasted of Champions League qualification and becoming the top club on Merseyside, but ultimately he has just led them to the position they find themselves in now. So the only real gripe Everton fans can have is that there are clubs with worse crimes who can buy themselves out of it

One can hope that if the big 5 or 6 clubs go (and what a joke if Spurs are deemed part of it) that the rest make sure the door is firmly shut and there is no returning back. Fans of these clubs will soon get pïssed off when they cannot get to see their teams away week in, week out. That said, if these clubs do move on all it would do is buy the rest of us a good decade or so of enjoyment until the next batch of cartel clubs begin to take shape in the newly formed domestic set up.

There is so much wrong with the way that the premier league have gone about this. Firstly, they have charges City with 115 breaches to Everton’s one. Does anyone actually believe that they will follow this up and that Man City will get a court date any time soon, not a bloody chance. See also Chelsea who have spent more in six months than Everton spent in six years. Then there is the punishment framework. No one knew what is was, the punishment guidance was brought in halfway through the investigation. Also what you can and can’t go against losses. Spurs way overspent on their stadium and were allowed. Everton were told that any losses related to the new stadium would be taken into mitigation. Only to be told that they then couldn’t be included. This contradiction is covered in the report. Everton breached the rules, everyone can see that. However the mitigations have been completely ignored. Everton now have 25 games to win 5 more points than Luton. That’s the reality of it. I hope the protests stop as it is futile. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The nub of the issue (as in life generally) is to apply the same rules to everyone equally. I'm not keen on Everton, but it is galling to see them seemingly singled out whilst others with far longer rap sheets seem to get away with it. I cant stand Luton either (I have a long list..!) but they were unfairly shafted in the recent past too as they just weren't big enough to count...

I think the issues Everton have had run far deeper than merely breaching the financial fair play rule, it is about who they have got into bed with Alisher Usmanov put a lot of money into the club allegedly though several different guises with it being subsequently revealed that he had been barred from entering the UK six months before he was fully sanctioned after it kicked off with Ukraine Secondly there is the case of a loan from a company that did not have a single employee, a website or a phone number. Thirdly there was the question of who actually owned Everton and there are allegations that Moshiri was really a puppet of Usmanov, several managers claimed they had been interviewed for the Everton job with Usmanov present, although Everton claim otherwise. The more you read about it, it appears that Everton have been used and are now paying the price, of course that is not the fault of the fans, but this is the grey area, clubs can't just overspend and then the owner sell the club and the new people get the stake wiped clean. Moshiri came into Everton and everyone was just so glad to see him they turned a blind eye to what was going on, get a few dissenting words and he bought the Liver Buildings and said he would light them up blue and that placated most of the fanbase , although it should be noted not all

But all of the above, do not directly relate to this arbitrary Profit and Sustainability punishment. All of what you have said is factual and in the public domain, however it doesn’t warrant points deduction. Everton’s ‘crime’ is that they spent 19.5 million over the 105 million they were ‘permitted’ to spend. Everton’s case being that there were many mitigations for this, all of which were not agreed by the ‘independent’ committee. Those three ‘independent’ members being ex employees of Leeds, West Ham and Chelsea. As others have said, Everton have been used as a scapegoat to highlight that the shitbags at the PL can mark their own homework and don’t need any government regulation. Just wait until Newcastle start sponsoring Callum Wilson’s shin pads for £30 million a pop or the tea urn in the dressing room for £10 million whilst the premier league turn a blind eye and they are heralded by Sky and all the other media outlets.

We had the chance of a revolution a couple of years back but the fans quickly mobilised to stop this in its tracks and preserve the role of UEFA.

As for the no hoper clubs queueing up to sue for damages. I think that the PL and or FA should have a provision to relegate or eject any club that pursues another on football matters outside of the sports governance frameworks.

Wolves and Leicester have had to follow the rules and sell anything that was not tied now. What makes Everton special? Leicester and Burnely have every right to feel aggrieved

For the last three years, Everton have had an open book process with the PL with every transfer having to be signed off, hence Richarlison and Gordon being sold. Which is why this whole thing is dodgy. Everton are not special at all. But they should be equal.

Shame Everton didn't have an "open book" when they somehow managed to edge past Wimbledon on the last day of the season a few years back, eh? Hans Segers in goal and all that...

You could have sold more players to break even. I’m sure Pickford would fetch a decent price. Until man city complete the process there’s nothing to see

I thought Pickford would have gone to Spurs last summer but they got the Italian lad in (who looks sound to be fair). It seems the big six are all sorted for keepers for the time being, so he’s going nowhere for now. But you’re right, he’s the most sellable. Branthwaite is already getting pimped out to City, United and Newcastle so I fully expect he will be sold in the summer.

On a brighter note the new stadium was looking good a few weeks ago, it will be one of the most iconic stadiums in England when finished with its location on the river Mersey

Well also hopefully we’ll of all learned from our mistakes and will make the English football competitive once again, with the prem, FA Cup and EFL Cup all being won by different teams every year, and different teams making Europe each year, with no more major gaps between 6th and 7th being bigger than the gaps between 7th and 18th! As footballs just lost its competitiveness and that’s exactly why if those lot leave we need to make sure we reestablish that and this time make sure it stays that way
