An obvious choice for a waste of money maybe.

To be fair to Martin he called it right about the attitude of the players at the club last season and with his experience and attitude I'd say he'd tie in well with Colback, Begovic and Cook in turning the boys in to a team of lads who want to play for the club rather than themselves.

He was right, and he did a great job for us. But we cannot keep chucking money down a black hole. We needed him last season, arguably we would have gone down without him. If he's still what will keep us up this season, then we have huge problems. As you say we now have Colback, Begovic, Fox and Cook. That hole in our squad has been filled.

However, ultimately we are going to struggle with Dykes (unless he wears his Scotland kit) and Armstrong who may become a goal machine but really isn't at all yet.

They need someone to cover Dykes, off that list he seems the best option.

From that list, the best option IMO would be not to sign any of them & go with what we have!
Out of contract strikers... on 18:12 - Sep 8 with 3063 views | queensparker | Dykes, Armstrong, Kelman and Kolli is a shockingly inexperienced and unproven frontline for a whole season with a distinct lack of goals in it. But with the recent positivity I’m inclined to think fk it and give it a go. Watching Kolli somehow win headers in the dying minutes against Boro was balm for the soul

Did Kolli really win one, head it to a teammate or get the ball under any sort of control? Maybe I missed it but all I saw in both games he came on was him running around a lot and putting the defenders under pressure.

Not really, he won two or three flick ons to nobody, but given he looks like an Oompa Loopah with a microphone on his head up against hardened Champ centre backs I was impressed

Armstrong is the cover for dykes isnt he? If our fans really think spending precious wage money on a 34yo who no one else has decided to pick up so he can be our third choice striker, i honestly give up. [Post edited 8 Sep 2023 19:23]
