Embarrassing, they need to pack up their gear and jump back on a plane and seriously look at their selection process and most of all select a Captain that is up to the task,

Martin could do well to do the same with the end bit at SCFC.

Are the Australians betting against their own team again ?, the English only ever seem to get a result when the Aussies don't seem to be giving it their best effort.

No Cummings, no Hazelwood, not enforcing the following with a pink ball under the lights, some rain forecast, only a few overs to go in the day, Australia should still win but not enforcing the follow on is odd, remember the Botham test, what odds did Lillee and Marsh get again....hmm

Australia looking after their inexperienced pace attack.

Take out Starc, and you're left with Neser on debut, Richardson playing in his 2nd and Green in his 5th Test match.

With Lyons, there's plenty of bowling there to finish of this shambles of an England "team"

Should have put this on 🙄

Second Ashes Test, Adelaide (day three of five)
Australia 473-9-dec & 45-1 Harris 21*
England 236 Malan 80, Root 62; Starc 4-37, Lyon 3-58
Australia lead by 282

Jimmy Anderson is a big loss for the first test

Why, he played in all the tests in the 2017 series and England still got smashed 4_0 he made no difference to the outcome then so why would he now.

England XI for third Ashes Test:

Zak Crawley, Haseeb Hameed, Dawid Malan, Joe Root (c), Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler (wk), Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood, Jack Leach, Jimmy Anderson

Australia XI for third Ashes Test:

David Warner, Marcus Harris, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland

That's one long England tail, with Robinson batting at No 8.!!

The biggest problem with english cricket is they don't have any guts, when the sh!t hits the fan they wilt whereas the aussie more often than not stick in there.

I put this down to elitism, most of the english boys are middle to upper class whereas the aussies are working class boys, I know of several great cricketers who would have made it to the top if it weren't for their background.

Complete crepe posted out of utter ignorance and class war.
Some of the greatest cricketers who represented Wales were posh/public schooled/privileged/Tories/middle class, this includes the Welsh players .

Australia doesn't have the class issue we have although there is a clear rich-poor divide.

Root is a Yorkshire lad as was Michael Vaughan and both would rail against being refereing to in those terms. Amongst the most cringeworthy posts ever on here.

England are failing as they are not very good mentally and the jibe that posh have no bottle is just dumb.

We have much to do in this country to break class barriers and that means "working class" warriors not feeling inferior and having chips on shoulders. My family were not poor, nor particularly rich but they were utterly class free and thought everone should be treated equally -that means upwards and downwards socially.

My ol fella would have smashed anyone calling him working class as was the case with my docker paternal grand dad. He was a man without a mental divide and thought himself worthy of anyone in every way.

Can’t think of a worse Ashes team to go to Oz

Is it the white ball game s fault.

Not sure as Aussies manage it.

OK I've changed it.

Third Ashes Test, Melbourne (day two of five)
England 185 Root 50; Cummins 3-36, Lyon 3-36 & 31-4 Boland 2-1, Starc 2-11
Australia 267 Harris 76, Warner 38; Anderson 4-33
England trail by 51 runs with six wickets remaining
Scorecard
England are facing Ashes defeat after a dramatic second day of the third Test in Melbourne, which saw England close on 31-4 - still 51 runs behind Australia - following inspired bowling from Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland.

OK I've changed it.

There's far to much emphasis on the shorter game here and test cricket is suffering, there's more than an element of players being picked for being who they are and not for how good they are, lack of bottle, ability, technique its the same virtually every Ashes Tour.

Thank God for 39yr old Jimmy Anderson, surely he could be utilised to coach train young bowlers, Darren Gough is involved now apparently, but he probably just talks about himself, another talking horse.

Seriously?

I assume you're not so confident now...

I posted the below on a cricket forum as a suggestion to try and make it more even ..

Australia are allowed 4 batsmen,
Labuschagne, Smith Head and Warner...and only the 3 top scorers from these 4 would count .
Then I realised England would still be losing...

I love cricket and it's my favourite sport but the fact that Extras are the 3rd highest scorer for England in 2021 is a sad reflection on the state of the English game brought about by the total mismanagement of the county game by ECB over last no of years

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-12-26/australia-ashes-dominance-england-product

The most damning article about England's current Test inadequacies, as written by the Australians.

Notable highlights include:
"In the past five first-class seasons, Australian backup Boland has played 37 first-class games, taking 149 wickets at 23.42, just as Queenslander Michael Neser, who won his cap in Adelaide, has played in 49 four-day games in the same period."

"Among England's backups to Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson, the numbers tell a very different story. Chris Woakes, dropped for this game, has played just six County Championship games in five years, his replacement Mark Wood only seven in the same time."

"All-format superstar Stokes – who is expected to bowl 15 overs a day in this team – has played only three County Championship games in the last half-decade. At Adelaide, there was a replacement quick who'd played five County Championship games in 2021 alone. The problem for England was that it was Neser."

And my particular favourite, compiled from the appearance stats, is the damning fact that Marnus Labuschagne has played more County Championship matches in the last five years than Stokes, Bairstow and Buttler combined.

The next time the ECB spout rubbish about reducing the number of First Class counties, these statistics should be thrown in their faces. We could go to a franchise based First Class competition (Say based around The Hundred teams) but there isn't much point if your "elite", and I use that term very loosely, players don't participate in it.
