where are all you happy r's originally from. on 17:58 - May 5 with 2141 views | TGRRRSSS | I live in Bracknell these days (or pretty much) Loads of Londoners etc in East Berks. Seems very different to West Berks which is more rural and old school - East Berks more London feel - especially these days with the traffic and housing developments galore. Plus with crossrail coming soon ... Formerley of Maidenhead and work back there now - well I did till lockdown and furlough laterly anyway [Post edited 5 May 2020 18:10]

where are all you happy r's originally from. on 16:11 - May 5 by eghamranger | Born Ashford ( middx) Lived. Staines, egham, egham, Staines, egham and now egham. Sounds boring but it ticks all my boxes for work, travel, shops and pubs. |
Grew up in your neck of the woods. My mum taught at Abbotsford Comp in Ashford. There used to be a brilliant record shop in Egham, at the end of the high street, full of indie, punk, etc (John Peel type stuff); the chap that owned it was a top bloke and loaned records out as well as sold them. Spent so much time there. [Post edited 5 May 2020 18:34]

I lived on Jenettes Park for a few years, in between the Sandhurst and Hampton days. First few months were spent looking at fields and trees, then straight into peoples gardens and windows. It was a big build. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

47, ground floor. Not sure when we moved in as only about two, so probably c1959 and moved out summer 1963 when five. Mum and Dad managed to get a good mortgage deal and buy a house in Hounslow West for around three grand, I think. Very few memories of that time as too young to be allowed out on my own but I did go to Nursery and Primary at the school around the corner (Orchard?) for nearly two years. We did keep contact as my Dad's brother's family lived in Becklow and later Goodwin, where his granddaughter still lives. We must have been neighbours. Lol

Train to and from Greenford to North Acton and changing for Ealing Broadway with Fitz and Paul and also a lad called Christopher Pledge, and latterly with Fitz’s younger brothers, Barry and Mark. There was also an Asian lad if I recall, Chad along with Ian Gyorkos and Martin Bambrough. And yep, you’ve nailed me.

I was born in 1953 and we lived in St Stephens Avenue until about 1967. If you lived at 47 you would have been just across the road from me although you would have been about 4 years younger than me. A few names I remember from the street were Mrs O'Keeffe, the Thompsons, Mrs Fairweather, James Miers, the Tatchleys, the Sparczs and Don the grocer at the end of the road. We used to play football in the street, jumpers for goalposts and all that. Happy days!!

I was probably on the same train as you. I lived on Birkbeck Avenue opposite the Fitzmaurice brothers. Chris Pledge and Paul Cherabin also lived on Birkbeck. We used to spend many days during school holidays hanging around the QPR training ground. A true fact is that Steve Wicks popped round to my house and bought a 2nd hand Ford Escort which was parked on the drive for his missus which goes to show how the life of a pro footballer has changed.

No, sorry to say, I was just too young to remember any of that. Can remember the snow of that last winter and trolley buses on the Goldhawk Road. Can also remember my dad talking about an 'Afro Caribean' party in the next door basement flat when someone went through a window and an incident where some guy was going around taking potshots at houses with an gun (probably an air rifle). They had a choice of a council flat on Blomfontein, overlooking the uncovered school end of Loftus Road or buying their first house. Umm!
