Trust Board Elections 2018
June 16, 2018

The Swansea City Supporters’ Trust holds Annual Elections for Swans Trust Members to have the chance to be elected to the Trust Board. Full Board Members usually serve for a two year term and are eligible to stand for re-election. This year however, as a result of mid term vacancies which need to be filled, two of the Members elected may serve for ONE year, but will be eligible to stand for re-election.

THERE ARE SEVEN VACANCIES TO BE FILLED FOR THE 2018 ELECTION YEAR.

If you would like to put yourself forward to be elected as a Trust Board Member, please download the NOMINATION FORM below and send the completed form back to the Secretary by the 4TH JULY, 2018.

Trust-Board-Nomination-2018
Please include your name and full address on the Form. Note that nominations MUST be supported by SIX Swans Trust Members who were full Members (i.e. have paid a Membership Fee) on the date of this Notice — 16th June, 2018.

What you are required to do:.

Complete a brief statement (max. 250 words) about yourself with your Nomination Form for circulation to Full Trust Members in the event of a Ballot being required.

A ballot will be held if more than SEVEN Members are nominated. Trust Members who held full membership on the date of this election notice — 16th June 2018 will be eligible to vote in any subsequent ballot.

If elected you will serve for a period of ONE or TWO years from 1st August 2018. The main qualification you will need is enthusiasm and a desire to see the Swans succeed through the Club and the Trust working together. No experience is necessary, there is no pay.

You will be expected to join the monthly Board Meetings which are normally held on the first Monday of each month in Swansea commencing at 5.30pm, and participate in other Trust related activities as appropriate.

You are eligible to stand for election if

* On the date of this Notice you are a Full Swans Trust Member and you are aged 18 or over.

* You are not subject to a disqualification order under the Company Directors Disqualification Act.

* You have not been convicted of an indictable offence.

Should you have any questions or queries then please contact us.

Nigel Hamer

Trust board elections on 20:07 - Jul 5 by Darran

I don’t know but vote Sumbler and Cude.

A dream team. I'd like to read the blurbs by the candidates before deciding.

I'm going to vote for Chrissy, however.

This is my blurb. May not be word for word what you see on the election literature cos I made a few edits to meet the word limit.

The Trust is at a crossroads and has been increasingly sidelined and treated as an irrelevance by the owners and those in charge of Swansea City since the Trust was excluded from the negotiations around the sale of the club. This only continued when the owners of Swansea City unilaterally broke off talks about the sale of the Trust’s shares. I believe that the Trust should be prepared, with the approval of its members, to take all necessary steps to ensure that it can continue to fulfil its primary remit of safeguarding the future of professional football in Swansea. At the moment, the Trust seems to have lost the faith of the fans and is not seen as a truly representative fans’ organisation. I don’t want to promise the earth and claim to be able to change everything overnight, because the Trust board currently has widely differing views and agreeing on the way forward can be difficult. However, I do want to lend my voice, skills and experience into helping to make the Trust an organisation that Swansea City fans can once again look to for leadership during these increasingly uncertain times both on and off the pitch.

I am 47 years old and have been a Swansea City fan for well over 30 of those years. In my professional life, I am a civil servant... I have been a co-opted member of the Trust board since December 2017 and would like the opportunity to get more involved than I have been able to so far, and help to make the Trust what it needs to be.

I can understand the thinking behind it but I’m not sure it sends the right message. Amd from what I can tell (I don’t look at Facebook much) hardly anyone uses it. Although it’s been quite lively today.

I dont really get the point of it personally. I kind of understand somewhere where members get announcements but with something like Facebook the chance is there to spread the word much much wider.

It should only ever be to compliment something not to replace it

The Trust have a website.

How about making that fit for purpose and utilising that?

Why restrict any communication? Utilise every available outlet whether that be public or private groups. the website, forums, social media or anything similar.

They don't utilise the website to the full potential. Shouldn't that be the go to place and disseminate from there?

I disagree. The website should be used more definitely but I dont agree with restricting it to that. Some will prefer the website, some will prefer a forum, some Twitter, some a public Facebook group. some a private one....dont cut anyone out is the key.

Even this website is criminally underused for Trust stuff

May I be so bold as to ask what's changed between you resigning and now wanting to be part of the Trust once more?

Darran reckons it's because ECB takes biscuits to the meetings.

As I posted earlier there is a much increased presence on the board who are more in line with my view on the direction the Trust should take.

The fact that some of these were prepared to second the application told me all I need to know

If you remember from the resignation the board were wanting to take a direction that differed to my belief on how it should go

There is of course no guarantee that the members will vote me back in and if they dont then the successful candidates will have my full backing

Of course you will get voted back on, people in our area like voting for things that they've always voted for.

If your blurb read "I eat kittens and puppies everyday. STID", you'd still get in.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.
