If it really was a choice between him and Fer then I agree we did the right thing. Still would have been a good signing though.

Sort of pleasing to hear the board are managing to put their foot down with HR too. Now if only someone can convince him that there might be options between the two extremes of spending £7m or just giving Niko a deal....

You don't think Napoli might be a tiny bit more appealing than us then??

I like De Guzman, but if Barton is taking the free kicks (regardless of accuracy) and we sign Fer (who is more dynamic and physical) then it;s no big deal.

Ultimately we'll have Fer, Barton, Faurlin, Mutch, Henry plus Isla all capable of playing centre midfield which should be enough.

Even Doughty and Sutherland at a push since neither needs a squad number.

Think there's a decent argument to be made that any more big signings after these two incoming might risk destabilizing the squad harmony. Don't want a team of strangers again.

One more striker i think is needed, regardless of Remy staying or going.

Vargas seems quite versatile rather than an out and out striker and Zamora can't play 90 minutes.

A back up goalie the only other position we might want to look at, as if Green goes down seriously injured i don't think Murphy or the kids could hold the fort until the next window.
