Saints have had their valuation of Romeo Lavia finally met after weeks of tinkering that has helped no one, the player, Southampton, or for that matter Liverpool who could have had him in their team at Stamford Bridge.
Reports from Merseyside are saying that Liverpool have had a £60 million bid accepted for Romeo Lavia empireofthekop.com are reporting that Ben Jacobs on X (Formerly Twitter) is saying:
"Liverpool have now had a £60m package for Romeo Lavia accepted by Southampton. As expected, things moving fast.
"Lavia has always indicated he is open to a move to Anfield.
"Chelsea's last bid was £55m. Should they proceed it's again going to come down to player choice..."
He then followed with:
"Saints indicating it will simply come down to player choice, which implies they are willing to do a deal with both clubs.
"Second Chelsea vs. Liverpool transfer battle in the space of a few days potentially incoming..."
So it is not a done deal with Liverpool or for that matter Chelsea yet, it seems that Saints strategy of holding out for top dollar, has worked, whilst Liverpool's of putting in derisory offers and only upping them by a million here and there has backfired spectacularly, they now find Chelsea coming into the equation and Lavia who a week or so ago was favouring Liverpool as his next destination, is now being courted by his old Academy coach at Manchester City now of Chelsea Joe Shields.
