I can't see this squad in the top half, I'm afraid. 12th-16th is probably how it'll play out. We lack quality, creativity and cutting edge.

Football clubs treating fans as idiots/inconveniences (while blowing smoke up our arses whenever possible) - blow me down with a blue and white feather! Fans are the abused children of the game - told we're 'special', and more often than not treated like sh*t!
It's why I conduct my fandom with a certain psychological distance (as well as mad passion), these days, though I wish the years hadn't forced me to.

Frey and Nardi drag QPR through clunky Millwall show - Report

Excellent post, and a crucial distinction to boot.

PS Beckett would have approved, who also wrote of QPR: 'there's man all over for you - blaming on his boots the fault of his feet'!

Jesus Christ - how can he be suspended already? We've only just started the season, ffs!

How many of Colback's yellow/red cards are avoidable (dissent, mnoaning etc.)? And why isn't Marti having a word with him about acting his age and not his boot size, or is he just dumb/entitled to take it on board? He's not quite as deranged as Jack Torrance in The Shining, but he's obviously a bit touched, and reminds me a lot of Barton. Not helped by the big whiff of resentment he gives off at playing for us at Champ level.

So much for the likes of Sinton giving it the tired cliche about wanting your experienced players on the pitch! What's the value in that if half the time they're not? All the more frustrating as when he's on it, he's a great help, but how often has he been? One or two games since he's been here?

I feel like I'm turning into him just by thinking about him!

It was shocking, however you cut the cake. We had five back v their three, but that includes Madsen tarting around like a lemon (tart) and Field marking thin air and ending up in the back of the net. Surprised Marti didn't call it out in his post-match interview. Utterly embarrassing, as I hope Clive will be highlighting in his report!

Our wingers/no. 10(s) conundrum

Whoops, didn't quite think that through.

Of course Cook, but I'm also reluctant to omit Dunne.

Can I play 12?

Techincally, JC is still 34 for another month, but he still needs to grow up!

Our wingers/no.10(s) conundrum
at 00:02 22 Sep 2024

When Chair's back, we'll have four of 'em: Smyth, Saito, Dembele and our little electric piece of furniture. Four into two, or three at most, won't go. Will Madsen need to be one who makes way? Put it another way, and after today's non-event, is this going to be our strongest team/shape?

Nardi
Santos Dunne JCS Paal
Field Colback
Smyth Chair/Dembele Saito
Frey

Subs Jaysus, Madsen, Alfie, Varane, Kolli, Walsh et al.

From Nourry's office: 'The patrons' colloquium has been scheduled in concordance with prevailing personnel trajectories, in which systemic context the senior coach is currently engaged in continuous training relating to the half-baked footballing product.'

He's only just turned 30 - and has played, what, less than 300 games?

If his legs have gone, he's getting older too quickly!

Why don't we have (enough of) it?

Who'll supply it?

Can we develop it?

Will we have to buy it in?

Think I'd agree with that, as Santos is improving and clearly likes to get forward. I can foresee Smyth operating well with him on that side, with Saito working the other flank.

No one, including Marti, seemed to pick up on it - why? Watmore had the f*cking freedom of Shepherds Bush Green to get his shot away. The defence has been solid, but that was handed to him on a plate.

Scapegoats on a postcard please!

Bizarre to blame Dunne in that role (who did so well there last season and nearly scored again today) as a main factor in our performance when the issues are clearly (mostly) in midfield.

While what you say may be true, there are a lot of midfielders who aren't obvious 6s, 8s, or 10s, like the Dozzells of this world - I guess a lot of them are called journeymen. Wasn't he asked the question in his arrival interview as to his best position - and what did he say again? Let's hope the scouting process had a role for him and so does Marti. I get Simon Osborn vibes off him (who went on to play nearly 200 games for Wolves after his abortive short spell with us) which will be with any luck misleading, so fingers crossed things turn out better for him and us.
