It's free to watch online and I still have absolutely zero interest or intention of watching. I'm struggling to see the benefit of the competition to us as a club, both on the pitch and financially too. We as a club opted into this competition so if we accrue injuries, player fatigue or financial difficulties as a result, those who made the decision to enter will be entirely to blame. |

I believe they have, yes. The only resolution for them is that SG is no longer involved in the day to day running of the club. |

Hate to bring this thread down but feel I need to add to the comments regarding the hospitality. I've not been in there recently but that's simply because there is absolutely no appeal. Nothing the club puts out makes me think it will be worth the money. 2 course meal? It's hospitality ffs, get them in earlier, make it a three course meal and impress the diners. (You can charge a bit more and have them spending more at the bar!) Serve something fancy. Make them feel as though it's a special event or occasion. Try to entice a different kind of clientele into the club and into the hospitality. Find a different caterer if you have to! Switch it up, different cuisine themes for different games too. Get drinks in to match the food. From the official website hospitality page; "Tea, coffee and cakes and half-time treat." A half time 'treat'? We're a professional football club, it's not a kids birthday party, tell people what they're getting. As for the lack of sponsorship, I know there's numerous businesses who simply will not put any of their money into the club while Simon Gauge is still involved. Andy Duff knows this as he's been in contact with sponsors who haven't renewed. |
| Forum Reply | Twisted Mule Brewery and Taphouse - Spotland Bridge Mill at 09:43 29 Aug 2024
Bit of a double edged sword this one, as TS mentions. Drinking in the Ratcliffe means your money is going to the club. Which is what we all want... But the beer on offer isn't the best. These new places at Spotland Bridge Mill are offering a massive variety of different beers, also something which a lot of people want. The club needs to embrace these local businesses and try to work with them. Perhaps offer a 'guest ale' pump on the bar? Encourage fans to certain venues after the Ratcliffe shuts etc? |

I've not ignored anything. I put in my post that I understand some people don't use technology or don't have it. But those people need to understand there are costs to what they need. A paper ticket, postage, a physical season card etc... It all costs money. That attitude of 'It makes sense to absorb the cost' is exactly the mindset that needs to change. No, the club shouldn't absorb the cost. The club should be ruthless from now on in its efforts to make money wherever they can. We might not like some of what is to come but it's been long overdue. We're not a charity. |
| Forum Reply | Season Ticket Prices & Details at 14:33 14 May 2024
If you buy your ticket online, you have it sent by email. You can print it off yourself or can use your phone and scan it at the turnstile. Why do you need a physical ticket unless you want a souvenir? If you do want it as a souvenir, it's a quid. I completely understand there are still fans who don't use technology or prefer a physical ticket but if you want that, be prepared to pay for it. It's not a new concept that's just appeared in 2024. As a club and more importantly as a fanbase, it's imperative that we embrace changes brought in and see the positives in them rather than immediately nit picking and referring back to the old 'This is how we've always done it' attitude. Look where we are and just how close we came to not even having a club, yet you're moaning about £1 for a paper ticket, the £5 cost of a physical season card and a few quid for something being posted out. If Michael O'Leary did visit, at least he'd make sure we'd be run sustainably!!! (What is trying to be achieved...) |
| Forum Reply | Season Ticket Prices & Details at 10:34 13 May 2024
We have to be one of the most predictable fanbases in the country. Some of the replies on this thread prove it. The club has to become sustainable, that means that we must make money where possible and where it previously didn't. Admin & postage costs are part of that. The sooner people understand there's a cost to certain processes, the better. They're offering the best option in years - A MOBILE SEASON TICKET. You can't lose it. If you get a new phone, you can just login again and still have your season ticket there. If you want a physical season card then you have to pay for it - fully justified. There is a cost for materials, printing and processing etc. The cost increase is less than I was expecting and hopefully others will be as pleasantly surprised as I was when reading the revised prices. It's fantastic value. I do hope there's a big marketing campaign to follow these initial announcements to really encourage the floating fans that there's something good happening here now. |
| Forum Reply | Fan Survey on playing style at 15:38 26 Apr 2024
While I found the style extremely frustrating and difficult to watch at times, there's a reason we are supporters and Jim McNulty is the manager. He guided us to a top half finish just one point behind big spending Oldham. Even if you didn't enjoy every game, there's proof that the style he's adopted is working... A decent summer recruitment wise and we may see a different style of play next season anyway. |
| Forum Reply | Club Appeal Red Card.. at 15:02 3 Apr 2024
It's only £500.00 (I thought it would be significantly more!) and can't help but feel you're being dramatic for the sake of it. As others have suggested, it might not even be coming out of club funds. If we don't back our own player when it's very clearly a bad decision by an official, what kind of message does that send? |
| Forum Reply | I despair at 10:40 17 Nov 2023
There is a collective mental weakness in this team. As fans, we expected that free kick to result in a goal... I'd argue that some players expected it too. At no point do we see any proper game management. No gamesmanship, no dark arts, no cynical fouls. Why can't we be ba$t*rds now and again? As their man is breaking away down the pitch in the 94th minute, stop crying about the foul we've been denied on Rodney and bring that player down before he can get into a dangerous position. Or go down holding your head and get the referee to stop the game. Fake some injuries. Other teams do it and are able to dictate and manage games that way. We don't. We don't 'smell blood' either. Any time an opposition player goes down (and it isn't a head injury), we almost come to a stop and look around before realising we can play on - by which point the other team has players back in covering. These are the opportunities you're gifted and have to exploit... We simply don't. Teams know that if they put balls into our area, the players will panic and they will have easy opportunities to score. STOP THE CROSSES!!! [Post edited 17 Nov 2023 10:46]

Vandal proof? No idea - I'd imagine you could have a casing made for it... Planning Permission? No idea - Perhaps only allowed to have it on between certain hours or reduce the brightness when necessary. Given we are broke, is it worth the effort right now? The same defeatist attitude of the current board. I'm not suggesting this will bring in £860,000 in the next 6 months but if we start with basics of having methods of generating interest & income, you set yourself up to succeed. |

The fixture board was wooden and did look pretty scruffy. Also needed someone to change it after each game. It's the perfect location for an LED scrolling sign advertising tickets / matches. https://pioneerled.uk/shop/ols/products/291x35cm-outdoor-double-line-scrolling-s Not necessarily the cheapest but it would catch attention of people passing. Easy to change what appears on the sign and could be utilised in sponsorship packages so sponsors get internal and external advertising? |

Took us until our 10th league game to find a win last season, to get it in our second outing this season will be a massive mental boost for the squad and staff. I think this season, we'll have to be extremely patient and accept that we're going to have to play it about a lot before working our way through these teams with 10 men behind the ball. Saturday wasn't the prettiest game of football we'll see but we got the win. We found a way to win. That's what is important. We're going to see a lot of that I think. |

It's both fantastic and sad to see what people who frequent this forum have to offer to the club. And would willingly offer for absolutely no charge. Yet the club seems unwilling to tap into it. Within a group of 1500 - 2000 people you're going to get people with expertise from many sectors/trades/businesses. How hard is it to put together a spreadsheet? Name / Phone number / Trade or Business area / Department. Anyone specialise in growing money? [Post edited 11 Aug 2023 8:15]

I'm guessing our proof of funding would have included the monies due from the EFL. Which makes it even more worrying. That's money we WILL get. There's £860k in that proof of funding that we'll only get if someone comes in and buys the unallocated shares. I'd hazard a guess that the EFL parachute payments come in before the start of the season too, so we should have already had that in? There's a fine line between letting people know you are looking for investment and telling people you're skint. It's no wonder we've got so many vultures circling. |
| Forum Reply | EGM at 08:51 10 Aug 2023
I don't think the question had been asked before last night... I may have the context all wrong but it just doesn't make sense to include money you don't have when proving you can finance something. |
| Forum Reply | EGM at 08:30 10 Aug 2023
If I'm wrong in what I'm saying here, please do correct me... Last night, it was confirmed that the club has had to prove to the league that they can fulfil the season, financially. I'm fairly sure this is standard for every club & league. What worries me though is that they have included the £860k that would come from the sale of the 25% unallocated shares in their figures to the league. What happens if someone doesn't come in and buy those shares? Even if the loan is put in, it leaves us £510k short for the season if the shares remain unsold. Add this to the 600k budgeted loss for the season and it makes for very depressing reading. How far into the season can we get before we're a headline on Sky Sports News? |

First and foremost, you need a good product on the pitch. So there's an issue when we're mid-table in League 2. If the team can't entertain then people aren't going to be bothered about a santa hat or a flag. In this day and age, most people go on their phones at half time or go into the bar for a beer... Nobody's come to the game to watch Steve from Hartlepool try and hit the crossbar. What about match highlights on the scoreboard? Or highlights from previous matches. We've got a fantastic addition to the ground, lets use it!!! What about half time scores on the screen? Perhaps a more eclectic playlist for the music? Why do we have to endure the same songs every game? Mix it up with some current songs, some more upbeat tunes, some that the younger fans might appreciate and know. It's as though the music is kept the same just for social media praise and to impress away fans. |
