I’d lay off taking the piss out of the Skates too much. They’ll be doing the same when Rylan oversees the thrashing we are likely to get from Arsenal in a few days…

I’d have him here in a heartbeat. Down to earth, pragmatic and not in love with himself.

Are we sure he wasn’t directing that at Rylan?

Given the undoubted thrashing we’ll get at Arsenal perhaps the directors are waiting for him to beat Ralph’s 0-9 humiliation?

I said a month ago, give him to the end of this month and see if things improve. They haven’t. I am now even more convinced that Rylan is an arrogant, stubborn tvvat and should go.

I admit I’ve never liked him and I thought he was very lucky to scrape us up last season. If we could get Potter I’d be delighted.

No doubt the blind faith ‘Russball’ types will be pissing their panties about ‘fairness’ but this is a results based high stakes business and Rylan now clearly isn’t up to it.

At the moment our 0-9 humiliation is likely to be beaten. The mere fact of that likelihood should be his P45 moment.

Maybe if he didn't come across as so intransigent and bloody-minded he might get more sympathy? Playing Stephens and tippy tappy doesn't help. The glaring example of Burnley last season should be a salutory lesson for him - but Martin knows best and everyone else is wrong.

Diaz (who I thought did really well putting himself about today - Including clattering that card happy tvvat of a ref big time) appeared to be ready to take it. The sort of mood he was in the ball would either have burst the net or landed on the Isle of Wight) until the hapless Archer took it from him. What a git.

Saints Fans Asked To Clap For Elijah At Manchester United Game

I'll certainly be clapping for the lad. Let's try and keep this thread near the top of the board so all are aware. Last game there was a clap and I had no idea for whom.

I'd give Martin until the end of this month unless he changes tactics dramatically, but as far as I know he has made no indication whatsoever that he is willing to adapt. Please tell me I'm wrong on that last point...

How long did we give Nigel Adkins? If memory serves, he was doing better than Rylan is and was still dumped quite early...

Also, in the 6-3, it should have been 6-2 as Scholes blatantly handballed for his goal, but this was well disguised with his back to the ref (I was in the Milton and it was a clear as day that he tapped the ball forward with his lower arm before putting it in the net). Ginger mufc fvck.*

I agree. If he can't adapt then he should go - maybe give him another 5 games?
As for last season, yes we got up but only just, for which he deserves a certain amount of credit. Although I do think the reality is that wasn't an unreasonable expectation given the squad he had and certainly not as impressive as what Ipswich achieved.

!!!!!!!!!! Russell Martin out !!!!!!!!!!!

That would make sense if it wasn't so abundantly obvious that his tactics are wrong. Right now, it's like he was captain of the Titanic and deliberately steering towards that iceberg whilst ignoring all warnings.

It is possible to sack a manager and change things around, but I'd give him a little more time to improve - although I seriously fear he is too inflexible to do the obvious.

Should Russell Martin be sacked after saying he won’t compromise?
at 10:49 1 Sep 2024

I went for the 'give him until Christmas' option but ONLY because there was no 'give him one more month to mend his ways' choice.

Basically, if he doesn't alter his cretinous intransigency over the next 2 or 3 games then sack him. Why can't he see what happened to Burnley? Either he's thick or myopically arrogant...I'm thinking a mixture of both!
