May I ask why sign a right back when we have Rafferty who is a decent league 1 defender, I think we need a left back and a striker a more then another right back. Hill is making the same mistakes of last season, signing players for positions that don't need filling and not signing players for positions that need filling,i.e. a good left back. Last season he signed Daniels and dropped Rafferty, and Daniels struggled and we got beat or failed to win games. Will KH ever learn from his mistakes? | | | |

It becomes clearer all the time that Hill’s comments about dropping fans’ favourites as they aren’t performing to his instructions were directed at Rafferty - his subbing off and dropping over the past few games testify to that. I think Raff’s struggled so far this season, perhaps more than a lot of the squad, so I don’t begrudge Hill bringing in another attacking RB (although why not give Cannon more time there?).
As for Randall, over 20 appearances for Hearts last season is impressive, as is a number of first team appearances for Liverpool. I look forward to seeing him play. |  | | |

It becomes clearer all the time that Hill’s comments about dropping fans’ favourites as they aren’t performing to his instructions were directed at Rafferty - his subbing off and dropping over the past few games testify to that. I think Raff’s struggled so far this season, perhaps more than a lot of the squad, so I don’t begrudge Hill bringing in another attacking RB (although why not give Cannon more time there?).

For me Rafferty is a good right back at league 1 level, a consistent 7 out of 10. His problem seems to be that we are playing with wing backs not fullbacks at present and in that position I feel he falls short.
No idea if Connor Randall will be an upgrade in that system but he has been described as a fullback who likes to attack so IF his quality in the final third is better than Rafs then this signing makes sense. [Post edited 23 Aug 2018 23:11]
