Ah, watched the first half in my lunch break and left it with Pidcock in 3rd 35s off the lead. Thanks for the detailed summary, I'm gutted I didn't get to see it live. |

Yeah, I agree although not I'm sure what McLaren agreed pre-race with the drivers. Personally I don't think he needed to give it back if Oscar couldn't catch him as he could have been pitted behind Oscar and done it on pace in the last stint based on what happened. But because the team essentially decided to undercut based on a risk behind that was never likely to materialise, Norris then had his options for winning it on track removed from him. Think McLaren did it deliberately to avoid any wheel to wheel racing as Norris seemed to have the edge on pace all weekend up to the race. |

This season has widened out to 4 teams having cars capable of winning with Red Bull having the edge initially and McLaren having a slight edge on pace recently. 7 different race winners this year (every driver with a good car except Perez) so it is a bit more interesting than some of the recent Red Bull/Mercedes dominated years. Feel a bit sorry for George Russell today, he did a long stint on his tyres so think the lack of rubber is what caused him to be under weight. Normally they do a full lap back to the pits after the finish picking up rubber marbles to offset the tyre wear but spa is such a long track they go into the pit exit, so he didn't get to do that this race. |

"it gives her incredible impetus and little time for negative scrutiny" - I thought the election was over 3 months away. If the last ten days has taught us anything about US politics, it's how quickly the narrative can change. |

We make losses outside of FFP items as well. I think FFP means we need to spend it same year as we get it ideally. No good using it next year and then having a season when the Eze money drops off and the expensive year stays on. |

I have no idea if this is happening, at a certain point you just have to say Zan Celar, Celar, whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see. (Zan Celar, Celar) |

I think fans and the club are giving him the benefit of the doubt because it seems out of character for him. He was on holiday with his family in France, so not the usual footballer incidents where they're drunk and misbehaving out on the town. I think that has a bearing, not just that he's a good player. |
| Forum Reply | Strikers: So Is That It? at 03:09 17 Jul 2024
As a club we can't buy a striker until we've sold one or both of Dykes and Armstrong otherwise we'd be exposed to FFP if either deal falls through. We will hopefully be identifying replacements that fit Marti's style of play, so acclimatisation will hopefully be nominal and Frey will be there to lead the line while they get up to speed if not already. We don't really have much of a choice other than to be patient and wait for the right time. |

Completely disagree, I don't think we'll miss either of them. We need new strikers and in order to do that we need to get some money for our existing strikers. Neither score regularly so I expect a half decent striker will have us soon forgetting about Dykes. |

From my point of view I didn't think Kane was at it for the full tournament and while I respect his record for goal scoring, I think as a team we'd have been more dangerous with Watkins starting. I think leaving Rice on was a mistake, started to look a bit tired and we removed Mainoo instead. All that said, I think Southgate has done a great job overall but as with the Italy game, I feel like we've missed an opportunity again. |

So the companies with wind farms and solar farms are running with no profits? As others have said, tidal is a great opportunity for the UK. If we were to borrow money to develop and build our own tidal energy source it would be a good long term investment but I'm sure some media and politicians would be quick to bash the government for borrowing money and increasing national debt rather than focusing on the financial benefit over the long term. |

I was about to say the same about removing the offer. Effectively he'd have had a longer holiday than the rest of the team, not started preseason with them and got a pay rise out of it. We talk about setting standards and culture, this would be a quick way to undermine that. |

I think he's talking about the exemption for EVs in the congestion charge zone being removed at the end of next year. Different to ULEZ. EVs do cause congestion, so assume it's logical measures to prevent central London gridlock as EVs become more popular. |

Premier league clubs love to hoover up young talent, before they brought in EPPP they would spend millions on teenagers who'd never played at senior level. A young player like this, showing potential at championship level is going to be silly money, he'll either fill a position where you'd have to pay a fortune for an experienced pro or he will fail and they'll move him on at a loss but he'll still have some residual value. It's a risk but all signings are and premier league clubs have so much money they're more worried about missing out on the next big thing. |

I think you're right but that's still not the selling point that tends to end in a premier league transfer. No, I'm not worse at right back than Dunne, I'm just injury prone. Now where do I sign? |

I think the trim is a reference to Marti Cifuentes and his team. When he joined, part of his team building was to have a karaoke night where he kicked it off by singing Bob Marleys three little birds (don't worry about a thing) where the team gave him the nickname Bob Marti. Xavi Calm sang Karma Chameleon which may be the source of the red, gold and green. |

I don't have X so can't read the replies however I assume some people still believe what Joey said? When people were saying that it's ironic that he's in more trouble for this than his violence I don't see it myself. I'd much rather he physically attacked me and I had an opportunity to defend myself. He's basically making up stuff about Jeremy Vine and his followers believe him and it's likely to linger around longer than bruises, so I see it as equally as damaging. |
