| Forum Reply | Line up of QPRs worst ever eleven at 13:57 7 Oct 2024
Gus Caesar first name on the team sheet. A bit surprised to see Mark Dennis mentioned here - obviously a bit of a liability discipline wise, but as a player I thought he was decent. I'd say Ned Zelic has a strong case for making the starting line up too. Dena Coney in with a shout too. Hateley for being a massive bell |

don't think I'm saying that at all. But what I am saying is that if there is an obvious fracture in the relationship between the CEO and the manager, it's pretty unlikely the board would offer a big pay rise. I mean what would be the point? I know this board is all about opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs, but this particular subject seems like a non issue to me. There's doesn't seem to be a problem, but some insist on manufacturing one |

Yeah, and of course, this misalignment would all be completely invisible to the board, hence they would offer such a bumper pay rise even though the relationship between the CEO and manager is a bit Donald ducked. Or perhaps they wouldn’t. If it’s so obvious to you that Noirtu is a control freak and Marti is pee’d off then, no disrespect, but I reckon the board may possibly clock that as el |

Seriously - if this misalignment rubbish were true, why on earth would they sign a new contract? Generally, if you’re not happy in a work situation, and your skills are very transferable and in demand, you tend not to double down with your current employer. Some seemingly always have to look for an angle. Next we’ll be hearing the earth is flat. |

Probably been said elsewhere but the announcement of Marti and Xavi extending their contracts proves that a) Nourry is a dictator/control freak and b) Marti and Nourry are clearly not aligned/at loggerheads etc. As proven by some on here who know stuff but couldn’t possibly say how they know it or indeed, what it is. Laughable |

Absolutely. On that occasion you couldn't so much hear the music as feel it. We only knew they had started playing Bomber when a massive plane was lowered down from the top of the stage! |
| Forum Reply | Deafened by Speakers in Upper Loft at 20:50 24 Sep 2024
Motorhead at the very same venue, also 1982, was undoubtedly a lot louder than the speakers in the upper loft I'd wager. Took me a while to recover from that one - and undoubtedly set me on the path to my ever present tinnitus |

It's b*llocks. Pro footballers can't play 3 games in a week. They're tired. They might get injured. We surely aren't making a concerted push for the prem this season so I really don't get the approach we take to games like this. And even if we were, success breeds success etc etc. Wouldn't it be great if our club tried to win every game they played? That would be novel in this day and age. I'm old, but modern football really is p*ss. It weren't like that in my day etc |

Yes, because, famously, there are no golf clubs or enthusiasts in Scotland, the North of England, Wales etc - and nobody from a working class background plays the game. |

Sure, if you want to ask an interesting question I’ll see if I can answer it. Sorry, just kidding, but couldn’t resist. I am old, but not quite old enough to answer that one |
| Forum Reply | Sky Sports Plus Farce at 11:26 28 Aug 2024
yep, I had the same issue, and have had this before. I was watching on Sky+ red button through a second Sky Q box. It kept freezing every minute or so and was incredibly frustrating. At the end I switched to watching the pens via the same service but on a 3rd Sky Q box (I know, I know) and it was a bit better but still pretty bad. After the pens were over, I went back to the original one I was watching it on and on that one the pens hadn't even started, it was so delayed! Ridiculously poor service, especially given how much they're banging on about the extra value Sky is delivering to Championship fans this year. This plus, the massive ballache of multiple changed kick off times is a right pain in the aris |

that said, this new TV deal is utter pony. I hadn't quite realised how many games would be potentially affected but on current rate, I reckon my attendance will be down by 75% this season due to the kick off time changes. That sucks, and really was better in my day |
| Forum Reply | Sports Bar in LA. - Mind Blown. at 14:21 19 Aug 2024
It's pretty crazy how much the game has changed in the last 30+ years. But although the pace of change has increased, is it really any different from my dad telling me about the brown leather ball that used to soak up all the water and take your head off your neck when you tried to head it back in his day? I mean, today's game is unrecognisable from the one I grew up watching; which is unrecognisable from the one the prior generation watched etc etc. Same for most sports I believe - all in the name of progress. "Twas ever thus. Get on board or don't, but there's no point in lamenting the old days. Even though it was much better in my day dontcha know |

| Forum Reply | Single file Queuing.. in pubs! at 12:52 10 Jun 2024
First time I saw it was just as we were coming out of Covid and I guess people were doing the old social distancing thing. It wound me up then and winds me right up now. I was in a pub in Reading recently and encountered this nonsense. As many have said on here already, the bar staff don't want this rubbish either. They were actively shouting at people to come to the bar but nobody would budge from the queue. I went straight up to the counter and ordered a beer which encouraged a few groans and cries. I politely informed the (admittedly young in years) queue that I was old enough to have been in a pub before Covid and knew how pubs worked. Shortly after that the queue dissipated and normal service was resumed. Everybody cheered, bought me beers all night and carried me shoulder high around the pub. (All true up to that last sentence) |

I was there, and was also at the Germany game and the semi vs Denmark. Me and my mates followed exactly the same routine for the final as we did for the semi and it was immediately obvious, >3hrs before kick off that there were far too many people there. As soon as we got off the train at Wembley Stadium you could sense a very different, quite unpleasant atmosphere. I had been in 2 minds about going but decided to as i thought i may never get another chance to see England in a major final. I really wish I hadn't gone, and not because we lost. It was just a really unpleasant experience all round |

That's a strong agree from me on the Ashley Madison one. I remember that happening at the time really well and it could've been a really interesting documentary. Turned out to be nothing of the sort. Altho the bloke who did his Mrs' pregnancy test without her knowing, video'd it and then posted it on social media......I have no words |
