My advice would be....don't listen too much to any advice. Many parents are well-meaning and adamant that what worked for their child will work for everyone. But that was their child, and your daughter is your daughter. They are all different!

Believe it or not, you will work out the best ways eventually. And then you will turn around and they will be off to Uni in a few weeks, like my son (sob). Hoping the Rangers will drag him back on occasions.

Congrats.

No, I am with you, and my anti Begovic stance proves it, but I think Les had more than a soft spot for us - or at least used to before the Evil Les brigade came out.

Totally unnecessary dig at Les. Austin brilliant in the Prem for us but not fit enough to lace even one of Les' boots. Of course Newcastle was the best time of Les' career - playing with great players, nearly winning the league.

Even Super Ray wouldn't have said playing so long for us was better than his England caps?

Spotting of talent at a very young age

Doesn't matter though, does it? If we spot them, they just get taken at a very young age like Harvey Elliott.

Always enjoyed the football manager or pundit's staple introduction "No disrespect to....., but" which then apparently gives them free reign to completely and utterly disrespect them, which I have never really understood.

eg "No disrespect to Luton Town, but they should not be in this league, are a tin pot club and will definitely get relegated"

I couldn't agree with you more, I think he is dreadful and that MAGA lot conjure up my Ryder Cup hatred with just one glance.

So I am not one to say anything positive about him, but to say that he "didn't do much" with his inheritance is possibly not accurate? I mean, just about the most famous person in the world, got to be president - it isn't as though he got it and invested it in a particularly low yield long-term ISA and did nothing else? :-)

I may be wrong, but isn't the (excellent) policy that 20% always get held back for general sale? They certainly didn't last for long on general sale anyway.

Transfer rumours 2024
at 09:07 18 Jul 2024

Of course that is true but its a right boring way of supporting a football club in my eyes. Of course he can do what he wants, but that makes him someone that I have no interest in any longer.

I know that puts me in the minority. I remember Seaman coming back and people looking incredously at the few who were (rightly) having a go at him.

Stand up for the Rangers. Get behind them and pour vitriol on past players who gave us no more than a second thought.

Or, read The Guardian Employment Law supplement and state they all have human rights.

I know where I stand - on the side of juvenility and the Rangers.

Transfer rumours 2024
at 06:16 18 Jul 2024

"Good luck for the future" - why? I always rated Sinclair and I really think he will come good but QPR is all I care about. When he goes I hope his career fades into miserable nothingness, alongside Willock.

I can already feel myself getting irritated when people clap on their return.

What for? We stand by these guys when they are learning / rubbish / injured and they don't even have the decency to sign a new contract that means we can get proper recompense like Eze. It's why I will always make more allowances for Dykes.

I know they only have one career etc, but that career could be a perfectly good one, just like Eze, without doing us over.

Honestly couldn't disagree more. She's won a grand slam - not at home or on grass either - Boulter and Dart will never get anywhere near a quarter final, and that would only be at Wimbledon if so. They can only beat her when she is nowhere near fit / ready. Wait till she has a full year on tour, then judge.

better than her.....on the day. She played out of her skin.

I don't like the way our players are always assessed by one match at Wimbledon - what about the other 50 weeks of the year? People think Heather Watson is handy because she gets a wildcard and may win one match, whereas all year round she is hopeless.

Emma will get to another grand slam final, at least, if injuries don't do her in.

Exactly - and Jack Draper was on the front cover of Vogue or something doing a modelling shoot, yet strangely the media didn't raise that as a lack of focus for him?

Leave our Emma alone, she is brilliant and doing fine. Personally, I am going to enjoy watching her tennis around the world for years to come, I hope.

I fear you are right. God, what sad miserable lives they must have. I do not understand how anyone can't have time for Radacanu - one of our own, through our own system and a grand slam winner.

I too blame Judy Murray for her selfish outburst, certainly wouldn't have helped. Make it up by getting Andy in to coach - if he can't inspire her to play through pain, no-one can.

Yeah doesn't wash I am afraid, especially as she shared a quote on Insta from Serena Williams saying what a great experience it was to play with Murray. If it really was misunderstood, why didn't she tweet that straight away once the backlash happened rather than blocking her entire feed?

I suspect Andy told her to get things straight, and fast. Hope so anyway.

Really annoyed by Judy Murray's "astonishing" reaction on X about Radacanu's withdrawal from the mixed doubles. I don't think the Murrays have ever got much wrong, and I believe Andy to be Britain's greatest ever sportsman, but this one surely wide of the mark.

Emma's young and getting a decent run into a Major. All her focus needs to be on that, not a farewell hit and giggle with Andy (who can barely move, so would definitely lose anyway) and when Andy was Emma's age in this position there isn't a way in the world he would be playing basically an exhibition match right now.

Disappointing and I hope Andy comes out in support asap.

Nice it is a brilliant day - drink your bodyweight in Pimms then you will be able to happily join in with the jolly giggles when a ball gets stuck in the net, a bird lands on the court or someone shouts "Come on Tim".

Never really translates to television those things.

Draper is quality, think he will win it one year.

Boulter has done well outside of Wimbledon, which is a refreshing change, but surely the potential is that Radacanu is better when fit.

Argh, don't go down the "didn't beat a top 10 player" route about her slam. She was a qualifier, hardly a fluke win. She was well worth it. Only the English pick holes in our own winners!

Well said. At her best she is a class above the Boulters and Darts so there is a real chance she can push into the top 10. It isn't all about Wimbledon, I want to watch her challenging all year round.

I really don't blame her cashing in on her major - now she has her wealth sorted, and hopefully fitness too - she could be a joy to watch. I would love Murray to coach her - imagine Murray's dedication and commitment combined with her natural ability. Not sure it works like that, but would be sensational.
