BMW Car Help Needed 22:28 - Feb 15 with 2399 viewsAl_Bundy

My digital clock has stopped working and has frozen. If I manually reset it still remains on the same time. Also when auto connected to BMW it still doesn't work.. any ideas?

Thanks

If you are with the AA or RAC can you phone them to come out? This computer thingy they plug in will hopefully clear the fault.

What year?

Have you changed anything recently? Updated software? Is it both clocks - radio and dash?

Has the battery gone flat lately ? You could disconnect the battery for 15 mins and hope it will reset ? Another idea would be to take the unit out and see if water has got in ?

I have the option to reset but will lose my remap so I may have to bite the bullet.

We've had a lot of flooding recently so the water suggestion could well be the issue. I will disconnect the battery to see if that helps..

Isn't there an option/button to reset, just the clock?

Worth a go, take the unit out , to see if there's any moisture, then leave it in a bag of rice lol

Go on Amazon and buy an OBD device for about £20- £30. Plug it into the car's OBD socket and follow the on screen instructions to see if there are any fault codes. These gizmos are good enough for basic fault finding in my experience.

"M'sieur, you said your dog did not bite!" "That's not my dog"

Good advice thanks.. going to order one. Think I have a battery issue, the car is heavy on electric usage and my journeys in 2019 so far have been scaled back to more local so maybe the battery is not charging or damaged partly.

If you get a new battery from anywhere except a bmw stealer (and don't go there unless you want to spend £400) or specialist, make sure it is 'paired' or whatever to your radio or the f*cker won't work. Or it wouldn't on mine anyway. If there's a battery fault though it normally shows on a screen alert.

Autoscan behind Wyvale on the zone, BMW specialist and a tidy guy , he'll give you decent honest advice, always treated me very fairly.
