You would have thought everyone would have been up for it from the start, to do a job for Kelvin and to try to impress the new manager.

The reality was that we were slow out of the blocks, Targett not bothering to even challenge for a header that resulted in Son hitting the post after a few minutes.
Switched off for their quick corner and Yoshi ball watching as Kane had a tap in.
2nd goal - another corner not properly cleared and they score as defenders turn their backs on shots.
3rd goal - another error just like Hoedt at Fulham - Targett's clearance from the left back position gets charged down and goes to Kane who crosses for the Son tap in.

We rallied a little for the last half an hour, actually had more chances than Spurs, hit the woodwork 3 times and Loris pulled off some good saves - including getting in the way of JWP's follow up to a PEH shot, when it was easier to score !!

My issue was despite the late rally, the game was already lost by then. Spurs had done their job and took their foot off the gas. It was the first half that we needed the performance of the last half hour.

Our defenders are crap - they train with strikers like Long, Austin, Ings and Gab, who have no goals or fitness in them and are not capable of punishing the mistakes made. They are therefore made to look good, that is until they come up against someone with any real skill, pace or quality !! Roll on the January clear out and window.

What a p1ss poor attendance as well !!

A match that confirmed what most of us have known for a long time. Basic defending lapses cost us any chance + plenty of chances not taken. This new guy will have plenty of food for thought as he reports for work today. "How bad must the other 3 CBs be?" is probably the question he will be asking.

An interesting few weeks ahead - Let's all pray for the new manager bounce because defeat on Saturday and things will be looking very grim indeed...

Targett & Ward Prowse! Never want to see these two charlatans in a Saints shirt again.

Stephens & Yoshida are the best we have? I feel sorry for Hasenhüttl he must be wondering why he signed on the dotted line after that inept performance.

Good job Spurs took pity on us and eased off after 3-0 to spare us a complete humiliation. We must thank Mauricio for that, he is probably grieving a bit for his old club after the kind remarks he made about the City & SFC.

Glad Kelvin won't be involved in running the show after that team selection and performance fiasco. No Kelvin, modern football about more than all that "pride in the shirt" bullsh*t

I'll take Nick's advice and see the appointment of a new and progressive manager as a fresh start but, my god, he has got his work cut out for him. Here's hoping he can undo 3 years of negatively and complacency and deterioration in a few weeks.

In appaling conditions this must rank as the worst performance of the season for Saints. The defence was atrocious, I'm afraid that Valery was outplayed and it was a fair substitution at half time. Vestergaard was responsible for the goal after a series of misplaced passes and dawdling on the ball by several others.
This is just not good enough and there is going to no magic cure with a new manager, in fact several games may be wasted whilst he discovers which player(s) is worth persevering with.
It struck me as the fight and the spirit to win was there. The failing was the quality and concentration of our defensive players and of course no-one to put the ball in the net

Really just need to look at the previous two seasons and this season and this report would be saying the same thing. Ralph Has to see the obvious here our defense was as usual pathetic no one person comes out of this game with any credit. And when l saw we had Moss as the ref l nearly puked.

If Gobbledygook Man doesn't sort some cash out for January we are sunk. That was worse than the under 18's on a bad day.
If you can't do difficult things, due to a personal lack of talent, then you should do the simple things well. Somebody should tell Vestergaard that and then tell him to f**k off and brush up on his gardening.

The defense was just appalling. Every time one of the back 4 had it, it was a heart in the mouth moment we could have given a goal away. You can see why Bednarak hasn't played and why we didn't cash in on Targett still escapes me. Valery looked his age.

Attack was toothless. Romeu still looks good, Redmond good until the final ball, Armstrong and Lemina both back to being lightweights again.

Ralph has an awful lot of work to do and fancy deadball plays are not going to get us out of trouble.

Oh and FFS Vestergard. Lol. COYR

That was certainly a winnable game, and we spannered it, again. We have the worst defence in the PL, maybe only rivalled by Fulham. Clearly we need a new defender in Jan, but given the quality of the last two we've bought I don't have much confidence.

I said a few weeks ago that our manager will need to be a miracle worker and an alchemist; add to that Jesus mark 2 and a genius. Good luck Ralph!
