Great thread. Despite the username I've been exiled North for 5 years now. Currently in Crouch End. Always noticed a handful of Rs heading this way to/from games - who'd have thought such a hotbed? Find Crouch End great for grub and not bad for a drink - The Queen's, Maynard, Railway. Highgate preferable for pubs... Though it wasn't me in in Rangers top I'm regularly found jogging on the Parkland Walk/Ally Pally/Muswell Hill. |

Compared to most world-class footballer his career earnings will be a pittance. Good luck to him. |

Bottom line is he has every right to enter the race and do whatever he sees fit in it. Fairly astute preparation for a future attempt at the outright victory in years to come. In addition he's a Nike athlete, a lot of the other front runners are Adidas- looks great for Nike to have one of their guys stealing the show a bit. But probably most importantly, distance runners are horrendously poorly paid- there are blokes in that top 20 today who are amatuers, he's a double Olympic Gold medalist who earns less than some rather ordinary footballers, seems harsh to begrudge him a few quid. |

Without doubt the highlight of the season. Plumstead, fairly certain it was you and your missus I was drinking with in a bar/brewery near Augsburg station post match- somehow didn't make the same train back to Munich and that's about all I can remember. Great away day, something similar next summer, ideally with more advance notice, would be spot on. |

Firstly he hasn't passed all the tests, he has failed tests. One open non-negative for cortisone which he weaseled his way out of. He has also failed an EPO test which he had the money and power to cover up. Numerous retrospective tests with new technology also basically show he was doped. Now if people want to believe his '500 tests all negative' propaganda, or even want to believe that not testing positive means he didn't dope (David Millar didn't fail a test) good luck to them, deluded as they are. But, all this aside the list of Alpe D'Huez ascent times http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpe_d'Huez and the history of those whose company Armstrong keeps should turn even the most ardent of his believers. The man is a cheat (as were most if not all of the top contenders of his generation), he just also happens to be a nasty, arrogant, vindictive self-publicist too. |

Cheers Mel. Ticking the 'local transport' box on the Deutsche Bahn journey planner seems to be the way to get it to offer up the cheaper, more flexible ticket. Even these are still only 40-45 mins from Munich. Prost. |

On the 7 am from Gatwick to Munich on the Saturday morning and plans is to head straight to Augsburg via Munich HBF. There seems to be a 'Bayern/Bavaria Ticket' available on which up to 5 can travel on the same ticket for 29 Euro across Bavaria. Anyone know if this works for that journey and if it can just be bought on the day at the airport? |
