| News Comment | Nathan Redmond - A Split Personality Performance at 17:09:39
I really can't get my head around some of our fans attitude towards some of our players. they are happy to rip into Targett, JWP, Cedric and now Redmond yet moan about the sale of a player who only turned up at the start and end of last season and another who seemed to get himself deliberately sent off to force through the transfer he thought should have happened last season. Yes Redmond missed two sitters (but as pointed out so did Austin) but he is a work in progress and needs time. As for chanting Austins name just after Redmonds miss!!!! how is that going to help his confidence. It really baffles me how some give their all but are given the dogs abuse yet others like Guly are treated like gods. |
| News Comment | Stoke City Fear That Saints Will Hijack Record Transfer Deal ! at 18:10:07
nope can't see us wanting to bring in someone with such a massively inflated sense of his own importance. we appear to have a very good team ethic at the club so why ruin it? I think you are right about his agent stiring it up to get a better deal out of Stoke. |
| News Comment | Ronald Koeman Leaves Southampton at 16:53:55
ok silver lining time. He was going to leave us when his contract ended (next season) and thus would have not put much effort into moving the club forward in his last year and the players wouldn't have put so much effort into impressing the manager (look at Man City's capitulation after it was announced Pellegrini was leaving). A new manager will be out to improve on where Koeman left off to show he is a better manager and the players will all be out to prove they are worthy of a starting slot. When his contract ended he would have walked away with a nice fat 'thank you' cheque and we would have got nothing. Everton have kindly given us £5 million for him. We are in a very strong position for a new manager and I'm sure there will be a long list of applicants for the job. When the Argy git left the club looked to be in a mess but the board went out and got someone who was better and able to move the club forward. Who's to say they can't do it again, they have done it once and we were in a worse position. I'm actually pleased this is over and we can look forward to next season with anticipation as to where the next manager will take us. |
| News Comment | Saints Preparing For Wanyama Unsettling ! at 16:18:49
I think a lot will depend on what happens with Kante at Leicester. I can see him being the midfielder most will go after with Vic being in their back-up plans. I have a horrible feeling that this will drag on until the end of August before we know whats happening. |
| News Comment | Shane Long Leading The Player Of The Year Polls at 13:59:29
I think that the fact the voting is tighter is a good reflection on the strength of our squad. We are no longer reliant on 1 quality player to get us out of the brown stuff but have quality players across the board |
| News Comment | Dembele Set To Accept FA Charge But Contest Length Of Ban at 14:36:47
you write this as if you are shocked that spuds would encourage their player to contest the ban so to move the date he is banned from to next season. Lets face it this is nothing more than you would expect from any club run by someone like levy. Underhand and devious through and through. Just a though but if he is allowed to play against us on Sunday will the club be providing our players with some form of facial protection? welders masks for example. |
| News Comment | Saints Player Of The Year Vote Likely To Be Two Horse Race ! at 17:52:16
Long all the way for me but will be happy if it goes to either VVD or Davis as they have been excellent all season. But then Bertrand and Fonte have performed consistently well. And don't forget the improvement in our form coincided with Forster's return. |
| News Comment | Saints About To Sign Concrete Ron at 12:09:17
Hope we are looking for better than him. Nothing better than a cover player and we are ok there. Don't see him as any better than Yosh or Gardos. We need a starter not cover so even as a freebie I don't see the point of having him on the wage bill. |
| News Comment | Saints Go Hard Astern To Porto at 14:35:17
I'm sure Morgan will be allowed to leave in the summer and this was agreed with him last summer. that's why he shut up about wanting to move. And it won't matter where we finish in the league either. we cannot afford to pay the wages that the likes of man ure, city, chelski, arse, spurs or lpool can pay. |
| News Comment | How Should Saints Supporters Greet Our Ex Players On Sunday ? at 21:30:14
How will we greet our ex players on Sunday? Well the slimey Snake is out injured so we won't be able to greet him. The fat snail will be warming the bench so our chances will be limited to him following the hot dog van along the edge of the pitch. So realistically the only one we will be able to give any reaction to is lovren & surely the best we can do is treat him with the same contempt he showed us. wouldn't it be great if we all turned our backs to him. |
| News Comment | Can Koeman Actually Spent The Full Transfer Kitty at 10:09:33
If we can get the 3 above mentioned players then plus 1 more good CB then i would be happy (maybe another RB to give Nathaniel some back-up or do we have another one on the production line?). Unlike some of the knee jerkers on here i don't think we are too far off last season and we don't want to end up like Spurs, spend millions on average players that nobody else wants and we can't shift. I would rather we don't splash it all now but keep most for January, let the boss see what we have and where we need to strengthen for a push up the league in the 2nd half of the season. |
| News Comment | Pochettino Or Koeman ? at 22:13:49
Said it before and I will say it again. Pochettino had 1 way of playing and no plan B. Easy to predict and beat. defend deep, wait for his team to lose the ball and counter attack with fast strikers. just think back to how easy Chelski & liverpool beat us. |
| News Comment | Saints V West Bromwich Albion The Verdict at 12:18:42
I am a huge fan of Jack Cork, he was my player of the season last year, but he was caught in possession far too many times yesterday. Not one of his best games, he slowed the game down and tried to take an extra touch when he didn't have the time or space to do so. Saying that he was still more influential than Davis and I was baffled with him being subbed. Was it just me or did Lambert look like he couldn't give a toss what happened yesterday. I can't remember him having such a poor game. He spent far too much time out wide and not in the box where he should be. If this is a tactical decision then why??? I can see absolutely no benefit from moving our most natural goal scorer away from the box. If he was still suffering from the injury he picked up against Burnley then why start him. We could have gone With Jay Rod as the lone striker and started Ramirez playing off him or given Sam Gallagher a start. |
| News Comment | Player Review 12/13 - Billy Sharp at 11:02:46
A little like Kevin Philips & Jermain Defoe, Billy is one of the games more natural goal scorers having the knack of being in the right place at the right time, a player that we don't have in our squad. For me he is an ideal impact player, coming on in the last 20 mins to grab a goal if needed. I think it is a disgrace that while certain other players have been given a chance to prove themselves in the top league he wasn't and I for one cannot understand why. It can't be his lack of pace because lets be honest SRL doesn't scare too many defenders with his. I really hope he is give a chance in the coming season but if not then I wish him well. |
| News Comment | Player Review 12/13 Richard Chaplow at 11:55:25
With our all action & pressing midfield I would have thought Chappers style of playing would have fitted perfectly into that role. We have been very lucky with injuries/suspensions in that area this season, next season we might not be so lucky so I can see Chappers playing the role of a good squad player. Worth letting him go out on loan again, but with a re-call clause. |
| News Comment | Player Review 12/13 - Luke Shaw at 11:19:55
Good article. I think you are spot on about how Saints need to nurture him, remember how Liverpool kept taking Gerrard out of the firing line early on in his career. Personally I think we need to bring in an experienced left back as cover for him, someone like Wayne Bridge or Ian Harte. Good cover, played at the top level, can do the job for a game or two while Luke is rested and someone he can learn from. Above all we need to try and take some of the pressure of expectation from his shoulders, look at Bale at Spurs. He arrived with a big price tag and the fans expectation to match. When he failed to meet upto this they quickly got on his back and the demands to get rid of him soon mounted, so the management took dropped him from the team, allowed him to develop away from the limelight, brought him back and the rest is history (or a £60 million bid from Madrid if the rumors are true). We as fans need to be careful with our expectations of Luke and not get carried away with the media hype, yes he looks to be another gem but lets keep this one. |
