Transfer policy massively attack orientated at expense of defensive cover !!
at 22:23 26 Feb 2025

Our transfers this season seem to be unearthing many talents at the top end of the pitch. Many gems seemingly found in attack orientated roles.

But we seem to be very top heavy.

Last few games, most subs are attack with very few defenders replaced.

With more and more young players found from all over but how few have we had in defence.

The focus in the summer has clearly got to be at the back.

We.literally don't need much more at all upfront.

Sure it's being looked at but does seem a poor oversight recently.

Fingers crossed the new Paul Parker Darren Peacock Clive Wilson Dave Bardsley need to be found.

Get cracking on that database please Mr Nourry...

Whatever the financial benefits to the oligarchs, it was the actual running of the football club, I was questioning their lack of sense.

They want a successful football club but seem to totally lose all sense when faced with making sensible decisions.

They boost their profiles - no doubt - but am dubious that they have no interest in being successful on the footballing side and it is in all reality, a dent to the ego, if they fail, in whatever sense.

Football and billionaires do not mix.

How about Trump propping up Rangers after he has had enough of his current employment !!!!!

I think it may well have been early 90s.

My dad's mate worked for Holsten, sponsors of Tottenham at the time and got me and my mate into the Spurs hospitality suite for the day.

We watched countless videos of how fantastic Spurs were and their illustrious history. We walked on the pitch. We saw Gazza's jockstrap hanging up in the changing rooms.

We're then plied with lager and wine, fed a three course banquet and then escorted to our seats for the game. A quick Whisky at half time and then a cheese and biscuits buffet afterwards.

BTW it was Spurs v QPR and ended up goalless.

The reason, I mention all this.

We were treated an hour after the game, in front of our very eyes and the Spurs media main man at the time, did a post match interview with the wonderful talent that was Vinny Samways.

I did not think it was possible to say the phrase "we will take it one game at a time" so many times in a three minute interview.

The only difference today is, many players are interviewed much more regularly. They do however get a lot of media training now but the only effect of such help is that most of them now know many more different ways of expressing that they are taking things one game at a time.

Yes the interviews in general are pointless.

I rarely watch them.

They need staff to man their club shops in Guildford and Godalming and their distribution centre in West Byfleet Brian.

Working from home takes on another meaning here !!!

Why do these successful men, who have built up exceptionally successful organisations lose the plot when it comes to football clubs.

So probably 1200 staff who all I am certain help keep the club running and many in hospitality and retail, where the club makes shed loads of money. Get rid of those minions , making the other minions insecure and stressed and worse at their roles due to increasing pressures.

And the 30 men of who maybe 3 are value and the other 27 multi millionaires keep their money and contribute nothing.

Obviously football is like no other business. So many on extreme wages in comparison to the multitudes on minimum wage or slightly above and yet the genius sacks most of the low earners in favour of the highly paid underperforming so called professional sportsman.

No surprise Rashford is performing at Villa. Probably feels wanted, encouraged and given the freedom to express himself on the pitch. The shackles are off.

Currently if you are bog standard premier league player, you are going to choose Fulham, Brentford, Bournemouth and Forest above Man Utd.

Ecclestone moaning about the free mineral water bottles in the changing rooms for the players, Briatore getting rid of any player that thought he was a n*b and expressed it, and Fernandes becoming over excited everytime we had the opportunity to sign ironically another Man Utd has-been. We have seen it ourselves, at close quarters.

Hey Mr Jim, if you want to go somewhere else , say for instance somewhere near White City, please just don't. We don't want your money....

With the absolute explosion of so many different types of media these days, players are asked their opinions on way too much.

To be honest, these kind of interviews are as pointless as they ever were way back half a century ago.

Who takes any notice and what exact relevance and importance do they have.

Clearly Paal would rather be on the bus home and who can blame him.

Would suggest to the op when he has performed badly at work, some random come by and stick a microphone in front of him, ask a question in a foreign language, about why he has been so poor recently and what he intends to do about it.

And if his answers are a bit basic, name and shame him on the office noticeboard.

Eze

Eze has a lot of talent but it seems not international quality.

£68 million release clause for a guy who turns 27 soon and not made it at national level.

For me that is the very top end of his valuation.

It's a prohibitive price for the great man.

If he doesn't go this summer, he is not going anywhere.

Yes teams like Man Utd Chelsea and Tottenham need him but the price is too high.

£40 million max for me now, I would guess is his actual worth.

Unkind of you Stainrod.

How fluent are you in any other language. Am guessing you are absolutely not fluent in any others at all.

Players are employed for their footballing abilities first and foremost.

Poor digging out a player for this !!

This season he has gone up to another level.

Looks clumsy and not always in control.

But does all the simple things and often can do somethings with a touch of class.

Gets 110% out of his ability and puts in the maximum effort throughout the 90.

Alongside Dickie, they both looked awful, but legend already.

If as is likely Cook goes, put a percentage of his wages into Dunne's bank account. This man is key for ourselves.

Drop Cook. Bring on Morrison and give Dunne the captaincy.

I fear he will get a better offer elsewhere and we will kick ourselves. We could compound it by signing Ashby as his replacement- please God !!!!!

We conceded from a wonder goal and then a brain f##k from Cook.

Great goal from Dunne.

This guy is so underrated - i believe because he looks clumsy and lucky to control the ball, but he does and so much about this guy is so impressive. Love the bloke, me. Such a good guy. Will be so sad if he leaves us. He is the heartbeat of this team.

It wasn't our day.

They won by being bullies and playing the long ball and we were a little intimidated.

Dozzell with an assist and a forearm smash on Koki.

Was this his dad playing because the friendly ghost he was not.

So p*ss*d off as big game for me as long term friend a pompey season ticket holder and I will get shtick for the rest of the season, zero of six points achieved !@@

Be interesting to see how we get on in March playing high fliers throughout.

We lost to route one dirty bustards today.

But without the wonder strike, it was pretty even.

An annoying bugger of a game but forget about it, move on and put five past Sheffield and Jimmy to bag a hat trick !!!@

Away form?
at 19:37 22 Feb 2025

We are performing like a middle of the table team.

Doing extremely well at home but fragile.away from.home

But tbh we.could.have got something away in out last few games away and we keep winning at home

From one win in sixteen, we have been decent

Realistically there was no hope of play offs after such a poor start and the rest of the season allows us a long time to work out what's working and what's not.

I feel this game we blew.a.gasket on the second goal. Worldie for.the first.

If Lloyd had more composure, we could have sneaked an away draw but sometimes games go against you.

I think in hindsight a.Field Colback and Varane/ Morgan starting line up with Koki and Chair either side would have been OK.

And don't forget.we.had Dembele basically not really involved as yet with Kolli, Celar and Kelman in reserve for next season perhaps.

It's a ground where the home fans make a difference

Is Cook starting to look vulnerable.

What's happened JCS - is he injured again.

Even if we play Edwards, think Morrison has to come in again next game

I.personally don't want us in the play offs this season. We are too soon in our development to be in the premier league.

For the rest.of the season, we can find our way and really go for it next season.

If miracle of miracles Eze gets us a bit of cash to spend.
Let's go next season all guns blazing

C'mon you Rr's !!

The guy deserves a season here.

If it was me, give him half a season to give the boy a chance in and around the first team squad.

If its not working out, loan him to league one or sell if an offer comes in.

He deserves a chance after performing well and would also give a strong message to any other future loans, about what can happen if you perform during your time away.

Well done Charlie boy...

Going well so far.

They are feeding off scraps.

Frustrating the crowd and keeping the crowd quiet is the key here.

We nick the first goal and this game is ours..

At least it wasn't Jeremy Kyle !!!!

I have a very weird obsession with two genres that both are a bit "not quite correct"

Have a bit of a morbid fascination with stories and documentaries regarding serial killers. Cant explain it.

The other one is some of these programmes about hoarders, where you literally cant get in some rooms, as collections of old crisp packets, every newspaper from the year dot and multiple cat droppings placed strategically in multiple pot noodle containers. Again, can't give you the reasons why I watch it, as don't know myself.

Forever R's - Les Ferdinand
at 12:05 22 Feb 2025

Appreciate Forever R's was, more than likely a new scheme and probably was introduced under Les's watch.

He was in my eyes, our greatest ever number nine.

Definitely in my time of watching Rangers.

The guy got so much stick, unfortunately also a few personal insults as Director of Football, but if ever a man deserves an ovation for his unbelievable contribution to our history - its Les.

I get the times under his watch with regards to being the Director of Football weren't the best, but you could always tell he gave it his all. In fact, the sh*t show that he inherited with a squad of massively over paid has-been prima donnas, he did well to stabilise us and especially with the finances and also throughout dealing with the FFP fine hanging over us every season, I think he did a decent job.

Ainsworth as manager from day one was a disaster as a manager from ourselves and although obviously none of us could have been happy with his performances in the role, he got no personal insults at all, as a previous legend at the club.

I know a lot on here were heavily critical of Les - harshly in my eyes, but I do feel the club should introduce him into the Forever R's club most definitely.

Maybe, its too early after he left and with a lot of the previous regime still here, perhaps it wont happen as yet.

Surely has to though, am certain the crowd at the ground would give the guy a standing ovation.

As said our greatest centre forward ever - surely needs looking at ??

70 years service Pinner

With our club that's seriously impressive

I lived in Portsmouth for four years, studied there, and often went to Fratton Park

It's a ground like ours and their fans are always very loud.

Have a mate who has a season ticket there still.

He says Dozzell has been playing well and i said to him, the signing of Hayden will ensure they avoid relegation and it's a tough place to get a result and they been scoring goals down there recently but their highest goal scorer this season, is currently injured.

Their form at home has been excellent recently similar to ourselves.

We could face Dozzell and Hayden in centre midfield for them.

If we get a draw, I would be happy.

But let's grab the win.

Was there when Gallen straddled the far post damaging his crown jewels.

Need happier memories to be made.
